OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG :) It's finally snowing... ok, well just barely. I swear I saw a few flurries this morning. Anyway, December 1st and we still have green grass on the ground in Michigan, no leaves in the trees and everything is wet and soggy. Does anyone else remember having a half foot or more of snow on everything by this time? It's not fair! What about the snowmen? What about the snow angels? Snowball fights? Bundling up in our winter clothes and going sledding or skiing, hanging Christmas lights, coming inside to get warm and cuddling around the fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa while trying to feel our fingers and toes....I demand a Winter Recount! We're being cheated :)

Hope this post finds you all wide awake this Thursday morning and ready to go :)

It is odd for us in snow country to see grass on December 1

Where?

Where? UP? Northen Michigan?

None in Metro Detroit or Mid-Michigan

You have fun up in cold country. I live in Florida so I stay warm. I lived long ago in upstate New York with lots of snow remember being snowed in with the snow drifts of 17 feet.

California Winters

I live in sunny California where it's 60 degrees today. If I want snow I just drive three hours east to the mountains. That way I get the best of both worlds I get to play in the snow but not have to live in it.

I'm up in those mountains you drive to, at 4000 feet, a bit below Lake Tahoe. Currently at 8:45 AM the air temp is just about freezing. Snow was on the ground here a few days ago and will likely return next week. I'm not real crazy about snow but it's usually not too bad in this low-cost-of-living locale.

Michigan? My family ran to Southern California to escape that stuff. I see North America east of the Rockies as being unfit for human habitation -- but people live there anyway. [/me shakes head]

Last winter was mild compared to the two prior to it. I want the cold though. My outside projects are mostly complete. I do have to do work on the snowblower though so cold and no snow before Christmas please.

It was also doing it's best to snow just across the border this morning. And although it's been green at this time of the year for the last two years, a well-known social media site is reminding me that that wasn't the case in 2013 and 2014, when we had substantial amounts of the white stuff in late November.

Yes, I saw the snow falling this morning in the GR area. Can't say that I enjoyed it, but have to consider it is Michigan. I do miss the days when there is a couple of feet of snow on the ground by Thanksgiving.

This is why I left Michigan and moved back to Southern California... no snow, no cold weather, none of that nasty black parking lot snow because they just throw salt instead of plowing it.

Glad you're enjoying it... *looks at my bare feet and the sun shining outside*

Love all those things that winter brings, nothing like a snow day and off from school or work. After enjoying a good sleigh riding and snowball throwing day, it's great to come inside and grab some cocoa and pop in a movie snuggled up to someone special in front of the fireplace.
