New Mexico.

not Nevada...although, The Fashion Show mall has a snowstorm I hear.

:D

I have some friends that are having a white christmas for the first time in 27 years. I am laughing at them...and just waiting for the phone call...

It's snowing in my house right now. Really. Ok, I admit I am being a bit dramatic. But, it sure as hell is cold enough, and feels like it should be snowing.

Lucky friends...
I don't think I am going to get my winter wonderland this year.

I'm driving up to my parents house in Lake Tahoe tomorrow. I want snow. *fingers crossed*

Damn! you actually made me step outside and look. :( -- especially since there is a very small chance of snow in the forecast tomorrow according to Nate Tannenbaum on CH 3.

"Tannenbaum" is a cool name to have this time of year.

Thank you, el niño, for dicking up our White Christmas.

Lake Tahoe is so beautiful. Especially this time of year, and with snow. I spent many summers and winters visiting Tahoe.
I hope you get your White Christmas!

Seems like on December 25th, it should snow everywhere -- at least a flake or two.

Be careful what you wish for: I've been watching the I-80 weather reports for up there, and it's nothing BUT snow storms forecasted!

I know. Borrowing a 4 wheel drive, I'm looking forward to being snowed in. A great excuse to miss work on Friday, and to get to spend a day or two playing in the snow.

It is beautiful up there Summery I grew up in that area. All though I love the conviences of living in a larger city, I miss it.

I know it will probably snow on Mt Charleston...the chain law is now in effect up there

Skiing...Christmas day!

You should have been here in 1972 -- there was at least three inches on the ground all over the valley! You definitely don't want to drive in this town when there's three inches of snow on the roads.

Two years ago in April -- as I was on my way to get my Airconditioning serviced for the summer -- there were snow flurries all over the valley. It was just barely sticking at Charleston & Nellis where I was headed.

Three years ago, I was planning on hiking a trail near the Kyle Canyon Ranger station, and got snowed out -- IN JUNE!!!!

Hell, I don't like driving in the rain here...deeze pepol...day crazee in dis place!

I have trouble convincing people of two things living here...

(1) I do not live on the 13th floor of the Mirage and
(2) it does get cold here. Very cold and windy..,.

Be very extra specially careful if you put it in four-wheel drive!

Four wheel drive does NOT repeal the laws of physics, and driving with four wheels handles and reacts much differentlythan you're probably used to.

When I bought my first 4WD, my father told me, "The only thing four wheel drive is good for is getting you into trouble someplace where youshouldn't have gone in the first place." -- Wise words that I didn't heed until I learned the truth the hard way. ;)

It does get cold here (it's cold now), and on those rare occasions when the snow sticks and the roads are icy these people have no clue how to drive.
I moved here from Wyoming 13 years ago, and I know enough about driving in snow to know that you don't want to be on a road with drivers who don't.

What puzzles me is why the "snowbirds" have forgotten how to drive in the rain and snow. Sometimes the ones you think would be the least bothered are the worst affected.

WH...Channel 3 did not lead with the story so I am thinking we may be SOL on the snow...

and then there are the people from California...who are all convinced that the 15 is a Nascar racetrack...that bottlenecks on Tropicana every friday night...

Nate did say that is was a very slight chance -- in otherwords, don't be surprised if it does, but don't plan on it either.

*smile* I'll be careful, I'm very familiar with driving in snow. Slower is better.

I wasn't so much concerned about your abilityto drive in snow as your familiarity with driving in 4WD.

I've owned nothing but 4WD trucks since 1972 and the quirks of 4WD have bitten me on the ass a couple of times.

ah the channel I watched said possible 30 % showers here with a dusting on Mt Charleston

Yeah me too, first time I took a jeep where I "thought" it should be able to go.

Actually I've owned several 4wd's just sold a 2001 Ford F250. In fact I learned to drive a 62 4wd truck. My parents still own it, and it's still the best truck I've ever driven. The vehicle I'm borrowing is one I'm familiar with. But I'll still becareful, I've driven in enough snow to have learned that the vehicle is usually going to do exactly what you expect it not to.
