It's not a good idea to piss off the Judge that controls your life.

That's fucking bullshit. Judges should not be able to raise someone's bail just because they got their feelings hurt.

The whole contempt of court is crap too. How can you throw someone in jail for 30 days with no trial?

She got off easy. He could have imposed the jail term to be until she apologized to the court. He could have levied a fine. I have seen both happen, to one person and there is no recourse to them. She apologized on the spot and the judge waived the fine in lieu of her apology. And there was a lawyer present, he's the one that suggested she apologize to the judge.

So next time you go to court remember it's the judge's house and his rules, unless those rules violate the law of the jurisdiction you better be on your best behavior.

I watched the video several times. She disrespected him throughout the whole time she was standing in front of him. Each time he increased the fine when she did that. Then he gave her 30 days in jail for contempt.

It never ceases to amaze me the growing # of people don't see why punishment for contempt of court and disrespecting the judge are an entirely different set of rules, in his house, that have nothing to do with the crime they are being judged for. He's not her attorney or the prosecutor; he's the one deciding her fate based upon the facts given to him.
