It's Black History Month.

It means as much to me as any "history" month which is to say it means absolutely nothing. I care more about Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Horse pucky!

Slavery was tolerated from at least 1630 to the early 1800's particularly in Eastern Canada.

And even if black immigrants weren't slaves or indentured servants they had a tough fight. Basically treated like the first nations people. Promised land sorta disappeared once they arrived etc...

You're pretty ignorant about Canadian history if that's what you think. Maybe you owe it to yourself to read a book.

Well shut ma mouth...perhaps I should brush up on my History a bit...seriously

Talk like a Pirate day is the best.

I walk around dressed like there's a Renaissance Fair in town.

so is their history different then mine. I thought we all learned the same thing in school.

well, no, we obviously didn't. i, for instance, learned the difference between than and then while you apparently struggled with that particular concept.

oh snap a typo , so what

obviously a fucking snob. not sure what the need was for that BS

why the need to divide people?

why the need to divide people?

Because no small part of people's pride comes from knowing where they came from and that by large has been taken from blacks. And it only divides racist whites from everybody else. St. Patrick's Day doesn't separate the Irish, it makes everybody Irish for a day (which is okay, cus their white) Cinco De Mayo on the other hand celebrates browns and as a result gets a mini riot every year. Everybody of course is welcome to join in if they so choose.

clearly, thanks to the massive spending from the anti Christ obama, we need to have a Thank China Month as China is our new master

Not so much.

Cinco de Mayo celebrates the first time the Mexican Army didn't get its ass handed to it in a high hat by a foreign power. That the French went on to eventually vanquish the Mexican Army and rule Mexico is beside the point.

Not many riots during Festival (which is what 5 May is called in San Antonio) in Texas. Mostly it's just another good reason to eat Tex-Mex and get drunk.

Also, it's a pretty big retail holiday, especially for food retailers.

Oddly, it's not a big holiday for white sales...

National National Awareness Month Awareness Month

I wasn't aware of this one.

During Polish, English and Irish history months I don't go out of my way to learn anything new. Why the fuck would I do it for Black history month?
Besides, it turns out we all came from Africa. I wonder if all men had really large cocks at one time but they got smaller as people moved to colder climates. Something to think about. Or not.
