ok, i have been here for hours trying to reach one hundred posts, without putting out too many senseless posts, just so i could get an avatar...

now that i have made it, how the hell do i choose one, and how do i post it? i have no idea what i am doing here lol...helllllllppppp!!!!!!

Well, do a search for avatars and find one you like. Then if you search lit, there are a number of threads on avatars. Basically, once you save it, go to user cp and follow directions!

Hi!

well first you have to find one...try www.freeavatar.net (last time i posted help for avatars, i posted wrong link...hehee)

after you find one, go to your control panel, edit options and at the bottom you will find avatar.

Its very simple, I know you can do it!

They do need to be the right size though, if you have problems, there are some people here who can help you shrink if you don't know how. Pokerman shrank one for me and I believe OUTSIDER can do it as well!

yes, you can use your own. You will have to shrink it though, im sure you can figure it out!

Crop them to what you want to display, then shrink them to the right size (150x150), then save with just enough compression to get the file small enough, but no more or you will compression artifacts.

I put some avs I made in my movie stills thread.

a note...
your avatar must be 150 by 150 pixels(or smaller) and in either .gif or .jpeg format. U should be able to set these parameters as u scan your image...or shrink whatever image you choose(somehow the freeavatar thing seems disingenious for your first one).

Is everyone using photoshop to shrink their pics?

Is everyone using photoshop to shrink their pics?

I use PaintShop Pro from JASC software, but IrFanview is a freeware program available for download that does a decent job on most pics.

I am NOT a technically proficient computer user so I have been limited in what I could do to pics without ending up with huge bitmap files.

Do you know where I can find the IRFanview program?

I think I can pull paintshop off Morpheus when I have the time(and disc space).
