It has four swastikas painted ( one for each downed enemy plane) So, it was Western Europe. In Asian theatre they would have painted "rising sun" flags

Yes, I knew it was in Europe, but I should have been more specific. By that I mean where it was based and flown from and the group that it was attached to.
