It appears I've acquired a pet

Somebody approached me in a chat room and asked to become my pet, and I accepted. Since I'm new to this, I need to know a few things; mostly what to expect from a pet (beyond obedience, which is a given). She described herself as "Basically, I'm your slut, cuddle-slut, etc..." when I asked what she wanted from me as a master.

Due to a promise I made to somebody, I'll have to refrain from getting off in any way for about a month (this part isn't a dom/sub thing, just something I'm doing to support an injured friend). Short of sex, I kinda need to know what to expect from a dom/sub relationship. I've already given her a collar, but beyond that, I'm kinda lost, given that I have no experience being the dominant one in any kind of relationship.

Master Nerd, since you must refrain from getting off yourself..perhaps you could focus on getting your new pet off. This should bring a sense of power to you and please your pet at the same time. It will also give the two of you time to explore each other.

That's what happens when you call yourself master... the pets just throw themselves on you... usually the collaring part comes after a whole ritual of initiation, but this time she was obviously very lucky to earn it right away...

What happens now? Well, just about everything... if she's a good pet, she will obey to your every command and perverted sexual whim... if not, you may punish her, which she probably will like even better

Just remember to behave really bossy... and, of course, play safe, sane & consentual...
