JERUSALEM (AP) - Israel's defense minister advised the incoming Palestinian prime minister Tuesday to fear for his life if Hamas militants start attacking Israel again.

"No one is immune," Mofaz told Army Radio, a day after an Israeli airstrike on an ice cream truck killed two Islamic Jihad militants and three bystanders in Gaza City. Two of those killed were aged 8 and 14.

*************************************************************

I just read this in the news and was heartbroken. I mean, its terrible people died, well, except fo the terrorist assholes, but its terrible civilians was killed.

But what really bothered me was, they bombed a freakin ice cream truck.

Now, I know we need to be allies with Israel, cause nobody else is, and they seem to want peace if they are left alone. And we get mad at them when we give them shit for defense and they blow stuff up with it, but then we become friends again. Also I don't really blame them when thier own civilians get killed, and they are retaliating.

Apparently they was right to bomb this particular ice cream truck cause two terrorists got killed. I don't know if the terrorists was buying ice cream cones during a terror break or something, or maybe they had missile launchers in the back of the ice cream truck or something, the news story didn't say that.

But I mean, shouldn't ice cream trucks be off limits for bombin? I remember when I was little and we would always wait for the ice cream man, his truck would come down the street playing muscal jingles and we would all have out monies to give the ice cream man and point at the pictures on the outside of the truck to show him which one we want. He would start to get mad, but then laugh and stick his head out to see where we was pointing. But everbody was happy and eating ice creams and having a good time.

Shouldn't ice cream trucks have a big sign on top, you know, like the red cross, sayin "don't bomb me, I am a non-combatant" or something like that.

I just couldn't believe that even with the terrible things going on over there, and the chances and hopes for peace never become reality, and all the other crazy, insane and evil things going on in this world, that:

A Ice Cream Truck Got Bombed

:rose: :rose: :rose:

I doubt that they did it on purpose. Sounds like an overreaction, and a very tragic one at that.

In the mad logic of the Middle East conflicts, any such sign would be a guarantee that the ice cream truck was being used to carry terrorists and bombs by one faction or another.

Honour and trust have long been absent from the actions of most of the armed factions.

But that would mean they also killed two jihad militants by mistake also.

No, I don't think so. I didn't post the whole story, there was a part in there also where Iraeli officials were saying how less civilians get killed today when they bomb, than used to get killed.

I just thought it was terrible that a ice cream truck is now considered, anywhere in the world, as a military target.

Ice cream cones are neutral.

Not in Scotland. People have been injured and even killed in gang warfare about where Ice Cream Trucks can go and to whom they can sell Ice Cream Cones.

They probably thought that, as Og said, the thing was a facade and there WAS NO ice cream in the truck, let alone civilians.

Yes, you are right Og.

I can't believe it.

fair fights have never entered into the Israeli/Palestinian conflct, and sooooo many peoples fighting for a righteous cause want to make headlines by slaughtering huge numbers of innocent civilians. And hide bombs in hospitals and old folks homes.

But it just doesn't seem right that a ice cream truck got bombed.

:D  :D

Unfortunately we Brits have experience of being bombed and attacked by Israeli and Arab - for different reasons but we were hated by both.

Our hands aren't clean either.

Hold on a freakin minute. Am I the only one who feels that the bleedin irony here is nothing short of kicking us in the face?

Israelis bombed Britons in what was then Palestine. We later accepted one of the bombers as the Prime Minister of Israel.

Arabs have fought Britain in Aden, Yemen, and other places and Israelis everywhere including in London.

We messed up the Middle East after WWI by reneging on promises made to the Arabs who helped us in that war. We split Palestine between Arab and Israeli (originally a decision made by Churchill among others long before WWII) and did it badly. If any country can be considered totally to blame for the cluster-fuck that is the Middle East, it is Britain (aided and abetted by the US and France).

Oooops, I didn't post the whole story, I was concentrating on the ice cream truck part.

Maybe it was in retaliation for a donut truck suicide bomber or something.

But you are right.

If the bombing of an ice cream truck bothers you, then consider this. The Palestinains routinely used ambulances to carry arms and explosives to their fighters. At first it worked, then the Israelis got wise. Now the Israelis will hit almost any target they think may be being used by terrorists.

If militants use if for transportation, it's a legit target. that goes for ambulances, busses and hearses. to amilitant, an ice cram truck is the perfect vehicle. It almost asures that when the israelis take him out, there will be collatoral damage to kids.

No one has ever accused them of being sane or decent, but give them their props, they are media savvy.

This explains the incident I saw on a documentary, when American or Brittish, can't remember which one it was in that particular incident, bombed a herd of sheep in the Iraqian mountains, killing an old man and three kids at the same time.

Now, if you're saying that the terrorists were smuggling guns and bombs and ammo inside those sheep, I DO NOT want to know how they put them in there!!!

They bombed a herd of sheep?

WTF?

Were they hostile sheep?

Don't get fooled by the cuddly woolyness. Sheep can be pretty mean.

Have you seen Monty Python's Holy Grail-movie? Remember the rabbit? OK, now imagine the same furry softness in a much larger form - baaaaaah!

The really weird thing is that this bombing took place between the Gulf War and the last Iraq war - ie, when it was supposed to be peace.

During WWII, the Yugoslavs fighting the Nazis used sheep as beasts of burden to carry supplies and ammunition.

Maybe someone had been reading too many WWII books.
