Inventory of what? What in the house?

The condition of the windows and frames, doors, interior walls, floors, ceilings, cupboards, fittings, fixtures including all chips, stains, marks and wear.

At the end of the tenancy, the inventory will be done again. Any damage or deterioration would be deducted from the tenant's deposit.

It is important that anything that isn't absolutely perfect is recorded, or my son-in-law would have to pay to return it to the inventoried condition - even if the damage was present when he moved in, and not listed.

There are 36 A4 pages, two copies, with over 100 thumbnail pictures.

You mean an inspections not a inventory, right?

The owner's agents describe it as an inventory. The house is unfurnished. I think it is an Estate Agent's particular use.

Some years ago I bought several hardback 'inventories' of hotels in Margate, Kent, that were requisitioned by the Army in 1940 to house troops brought back from Dunkerque.

Those inventories were the state of each room, not the contents.

I gave them to the Margate Museum. But each foolscap book was titled 'Inventory'.

As I recall from my service days, an 'Inventory' is what's agreed AFTER an 'Inspection'.

That's interesting, the Dunkirk thing, I love history.

On hold, again already -- first time the call was dropped -- with Comcast. The wait time is 15-20 minutes so I've already lost that plus another ten or so.

I do not exactly hate Comcast but sometimes I bemoan the lack of competition...

Thats why I don't watch TV anymore, Ebooks. That needs competition as well though.

This was a billing issue. We'd ordered the Center Ice package but apparently did so about the time Comcast was switching to a new computer system. This has messed stuff up.

Oh your an NHL fan, whats your team?

Full disclosure the Hartford Whalers were my team, prior to their relocation to the south.

There's an explanation here, but suffice to say I like the Caps and Flyers.

Can I assume your favorite team has someone with name Crosby, in its lineup?

HELL NO.

:) For one thing I'm closer to Philly and people here are generally Flyers (and Eagles, Phillies, etc.) fans. Pittsburgh is on the other side of the state and people do not join the Pens' bandwagon if the Flyers are out (which they likely will be, given their current record).

For another, I'm a Caps' fan.

How do you feel about the Blackhawks?

I'm pretty indifferent to most Western teams. Just don't play them enough for any big rivalries to develop

However, I was pleased to see the Caps beat the 'Hawks in the Winter Classic. :)

Western pshhhh! You mean original teams?

Western pshhhh! You mean original teams?

No, I mean the Western Conference teams. The original teams were pretty much concentrated in the East: Boston, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, New York and Detroit. Detroit is currently in the Eastern Conference but Chicago is in the West.

Baffled by any particular thing? :)

Probably all this USAnian sports-team blather. My view: USA professional and big-time collegiate sports serve a useful function in the gambling industry and not much else. Broadcast sports events give audiences something to wager on. Thus, sport is a wing of the Mafia. A parallel view: Athletic, political, religious, economic and artistic systems are interchangeable. Sports-worship and godling-worship follow the same processes. A logical step: sports contests between holy academies, madrasahs, etc, to determine just which deities kick ass. Is Allah a losing bet?

IIRC, you're in the UK, yes? If so, sports-team blather is hardly unique to the US. People over there are die-hard fans of the various football teams like Man U and Arsenal and others, right?

I do not generally gamble on sports. I used to do an NFL playoff pool at my office, but that was the extent of it. Sports are entertainment, and they give people a commonality. I could meet someone and we might find we are both fans of one of the local teams and so we'd have something to talk about.

Some people, and not just in the US, are way too involved in sports. They identify too much with individual players, or teams, and live or die with the wins and losses. I'll play it up a bit like I did earlier, but I am not that involved.

On the other hand, my husband and I kind of bonded over both hockey and baseball when we met (our first date was a baseball game), it gives me something to talk about with my dad and brother, and before he passed away, my grandfather. He was a fan of the Philadelphia baseball team all his life (he died about age 85) and to my knowledge never gambled on it. He simply enjoyed it.

There are lots of problems with big-time sports, don't get me wrong. There is corruption and stupidity and bankruptcy and all kinds of things, on a macro basis. On a more micro basis, sports are just another hobby or way to pass the time, no better or worse than many others.

Exactly.
It's good to see a bit of 'educated' comment on some team or other, but I find it baffling.

Yes, we do have such conversations in the UK in whatever passes for a forum, but one could not compare Chicago v New York with Sunderland v Bournemouth (they're not in the same league as far as I know).

We used to see such conversations in the Hairdressers when I was a kid, but since we gained mobile 'phones and social media (huh!) one would be lucky to hear an educated voice discuss the merits of a particular player in the local team.

Deposited my first paycheck yesterday :D

It was only for 14 hours of work on Wednesday and Friday either end of New Y"ears, but still, good to have income again :D

I flew over the UK several times but never landed. A couple long-ago long-term lovers were Brits; they're my closest link. I'm currently about midway between the capitols of Nevada and California but I might be back in Guatemala next month. No soccer hooligans in Guatemala.

Hope you're having better weather than we are over here on the east coast. :)
