I must stop procrastinating, by enjoying making breadcrumbs out of old bread, and actually clean the kitchen surfaces.

This site makes me want to study the dynamics of internet communities...:)

Sometimes it makes me want to puke -

Agreed. I'd point out some examples, but won't. Still, the net seems to draw out the cliquish, pack instincts out in people as much or more than in person - I guess polite conversational exchange isn't thought to be as much of a requirement.

I like the spontaneity but hate the rudeness and the lack of empathy or regard for others' points of view.

I think the internet is like a room full of goldfish bowls. Sometimes when you look through glass and water, you can see things in greater microcosmic detail. There are internet places where people are cuddly together, I belong to a closed FB erotic writing group where there is only polite conversation - and very good feedback on writing. That's the gated goldfish bowl. In here is a bit more like shark-infested custard. I come in here a lot more than in there, cuz they tick me off in there if I flirt with my Swedish lesbian friend . No, no, they don't tick her off cuz she is a bona fide lesbian, not a slut like me <snerk>.

Do tell, dear Duchess, the connection between flirting with your Swedish lady friend and an erotic writing group.
Beside, I thought you were of the MILF persuasion. . .
;)

You would be surprised at the kinds of people who find a MILF appealing ;). As for me, I am easy <snerk>.

OK, I am not really easy, but gender seems to have fallen off my list of strict criteria as to who may enjoy my ... interest ;).

Indeed, it's fun to flirt or misbehave and watch others do the same. Most of the time. It's the tongue-firmly-in-cheek aspect that gets lost sometimes... FB holds little appeal to me, for some reason.

Oh I feel so guilty , I have been off my Facebook for so long, both my 'RL' profile and Naoko Smith.

I like FB for keeping in touch with lots of people, some of whom are far away, and the group I joined was very well run and actually gave me really good support with my writing.

FB reminds me of the case where you give a child a very large gun and a lot of ammunition. Damage will inevitably result because the child has no "ruler" (OK, moral compass, education, whatever) to enjoy in a mutually good way, the facility it offers.

Have you seen the film The Social Network, HP? about how Facebook came into being. It's very good.

I have, and yes it is, though certainly it's no surprise that Zuckerberg is a sleazebag of sorts, though no more than one of my heroes, Steve Jobs.

And I see the point of FB - I think it does fill a great need in our very distributed culture. It extends and maybe even replaces family networks. It collapses the time/space continuum, so to speak. All good things. But what HP is referring to is also true, though what he suggests is not limited to FB. Why, you see thoughtless behavior here every day.

Oh well, FB - I could say reams about what I think of it, LOL. As for the thoughtless behaviour, like I say: goldfish bowl, it's interesting to see it isolated and magnified in here, whereas in person to person, face to face contact, it can often be camouflaged under body language or other stuff.

Blurt:
What can I make with four egg yolks left over from the rainbow cupcakes?

Add another egg and have some nice scrambled breakfast ?

I put some milk and sugar with it, scrambled it and had it on brown bread toast with butter and jam :). It was very tasty!

Cup of coffee for you? I will go and put one out in Naked Party. I might just see if Bear is playing Rodriguez in there too, while I:

(Blurt alert)
Having done the other half of the washing up from the rainbow cupcakes very early, and put a second wash in the machine, I can hang out the towels to dry and clear the breakfast things and wash them up along with some pans which were missed out owing to having been put on the floor.

:D
Piglet came rushing in going: "Urgh urgh!" this morning because the cats had a(nother) frog in the living room. When I went to drop it over the neighbours' fence (uh, back into their pond! not in vengeance on them), there was a big white cat sitting on the fence with its mouth hopefully open! I didn't know what to do with the poor froggy for a minute, till the silly white cat ran off.

Agh! the Return of the Frog interrupts my listening to the 1st Movement of Concierto de Aranjuez

I am spitting blood.

For three years I have been working as part of a community group to try to keep our local museum open. My local council said it couldn't afford to maintain it, and has drastically cut the opening hours. From April 2015 they want to transfer it to a community trust.

I open my local paper today to find that they are advertising for three NEW posts in the Museums Service, including a Deputy Director. These are additional staff, not replacements for people made redundant.

WTF!

Even at minimum wage, the cost of those three posts would pay to keep the two threatened local museums open all year.

Damned ducks got themselves into the corn field. The corn was just starting to sprout so they did some damage eating up sprouts. Going to have to replant a section of that field.

And is there a Protest Movement growing ?
It strikes me there damned well should be!

I have found out that they have made the existing staff redundant and are expecting them to apply for the (fewer) new posts. I think that breaches employment law.

We've been protesting for three years now.

And today I learned that Kent County Council want to offload all their libraries, preferably to community volunteer organisations.

We don't have enough volunteers to run everything.

:rose: Ogg. It's too bad. Sorry for the staff and for your groups, who are working so hard against the council stupidity.

OMG, that stupid woman!

I walked past her the other day, and I knew she was going to cut me so I cut her. Then just as I drew level, she went: "Oh hullo!" so I pretended very obviously that I had just seen her and went: "Hullo," and went off shopping.

Next thing, she's sending stupid messages home via the Fella saying: "Would I like to go out to a silly dinner after he does this silly work thing with them all?"

Would she like to come and babysit for me while I go and get drunk and behave badly?

Thought not.

And now she has put a letter addressed to me in his pigeon-hole asking if I want to review a book for their journal!

Just Go Away, why don't you? Stupid cow. Pretending to help me while actually doing nothing for me at all.

If you want to help me, you ask me to come and give a paper on my latest research. You do not ask me to review someone-else's book, you ask me to write a paper for your stupid journal!

What is wrong with you, can you not read the implicit two fingers in the way I am saying: No Thank You, very very politely and in an ice cold tone of voice while smirking out of the side of my face? Go away and matronise somebody-else, nitwit.
