OK, mum. I know I ruined your life by having the nerve to be born and have been nothing but a disappointment to you my whole life, no matter how many hoops I jumped through for you. And I know you're old, but do you really have to be such a bitch to your grandkids?

Ugh. My sympathies. My aunt nursed both of her in-laws through Alzheimer's - the in-laws who refused to speak to their son for forty years because he married her, and who would occasionally have a moment of clarity in which to tell her, "I never liked you." I know it's not a delightful message, but some people never do learn. On the other hand, everyone around my aunt learned a great deal about the heroic person she is. I think she did come to recognize that the Alzheimer's was just the last moment of a lifetime of self-willed madness; nothing really to do with her. Just broken people snarling around like injured bears.

She doesn't even have Alzheimer's as an excuse.

*nods* Some people are like that. You never really know what broke them, or whether they ever had a chance to try to be kind and loving. Sometimes they didn't; sometimes they did, but they're just like that. I try to bear in mind that it's just them being broken, but when it's someone close to heart, it's always painful.

The best I can usually do is remember, from my days at an animal shelter, that the really hurt or frightened or unsocialized animals will bite you if you get close no matter how you do it or what your intentions are. They're not malevolent; they just can't get past their own ideas of what they think is going on. Sometimes it helps me to feel less hurt and more pity when I get it from a human; sometimes it doesn't.

Today, the "If you love something, set it free" philosophy is grating me.

If you want something, if you really want it with all your heart, you work for it. You focus, and you concentrate and commit, and you sacrifice and you do everything you can - more importantly - you do everything you have to do, to get what you want.

That's what you do, if you want something. That's the way the world works. It's the only way. And even then, you can't be sure that you will succeed.
why do you think i'm still here baby? :rose:   :rose:

When they're together, they hurt each other. Not just hurt - stab, wound, rip, shred actually. And when they try to leave each other, she's so miserable that she can't bear it. Either way, some part of them needs to be sacrificed.

How come my boobs don't look all nice and perky and together and as sexy as everyone else's...? *sighs*

There's something wrong with your breasts? (Leans over and stares closely)

I don't see it.

I'd do a taste test, but that's Dl's job. ;)
