I got all of my drinking out of the way early in life. It holds very little interest any more.

On the upside, thanks to the Lyric Game thread, I now have enough songs battling for attention that it's simply become a cacophany that is more easily ignored.

It never held all that much interest for me and less now than it once did.

Well, there's a bit of good news then, I suppose. A wide selection of songs battling for airplay in the mind does tend to at least prevent the monotony of the same song repeating.

Mmmm! It could replace all of the former. A featherless gosling will always be welcome in my home.
Of course, it leaves one to wonder where all the feathers have disappeared to. ;)
Either that or clever with semantics. I notice she didn't say she'd send them - just that she wished she had them to send. ;)
I noticed that myself. Maybe we should all take up a collection for her birthday.

Once upon a time, it held far too much interest for me. Now I just tell myself I was getting it all out of the way as a kid rather than have it muck up adulthood. I don't actually believe it, but it helps. ;)

I'm off to forage. We'll see what the car radio can add to the babel of my brain.

To borrow a quote from William James and use it stunningly out of context, "Truth is the name of whatever proves itself to be good in the way of belief, and good, too, for definite, assignable reasons."

Farewell then, may the car radio not lead astray!

What a lovely quote, context be damned. Context is all in the eye of the beholder isn't it? Or is it just beauty? I get confuzzled.

Vella-la-la - Prove it.

Everything is, in some respects, in the eye of the beholder.

It's the dreaded Hyper-intellect Disorder, I'm afraid. There's no cure for it.

Yes, 'tis indeed part of the beauty of the world.

I wouldn't know, my intellect being less than hyper. Don't rub it in. *scowl*

Only part? I find it to be most of the beauty, but then it be my eye that's be holding it that way.

Are you sure? It is very important that you see a doctor and find out, it's hereditary you know. For reference, here are the diagnostic criteria:
Characterised by a readily discernible pattern of higher level thought and expression, usually occurring from childhood and persistent throughout life, as indicated by three (or more) of the following:

(1)an interest in new thoughts and ideas
(2)a tendency towards introspection and discussion of ideas, especially of the arts, sciences, or humanities.
(3)quick thinking and an ability to rapidly solve problems
(4)a fondness for past-times and hobbies such as reading and writing
(5)a tendency towards critical thinking and weighty consideration of facts

Please specify:
Mathematical, logical
Verbal and linguistic
Musical
Introspective and philosophical
Other

There is a great deal of beauty in the world, I wouldn't want to reduce it so.

All of those are present, in spades, it's the "higher level" that appears to be lacking. Other than the reading, that is. The reading is and has always been of the voracious variety. The rest meanders about at mediocre. It's a good mediocre, though. I'm not complaining.

There is a great deal of beauty in the world, I wouldn't want to reduce it so.
Ooooh....well said.
