Yea Cloudy!cloudy said:I did my good deed for the day.
I stopped to get some gas, and while I was putting it in the car, I noticed this elderly man trying to start his (small) truck, and it would turn over, but just wouldn't start. He had to be close to 80.
There was another man with him, a little younger, and after so many tries, and it still wouldn't start, the younger pushed the truck away from the pump, while the older man steered. You could almost see "what now?" going through their minds. It's raining, it's cold, and they're stuck.
I went over there and asked if they needed to use my phone, and handed it over, then stayed with them until the older man got in touch with his daughter (who lived about 40 miles away), and got confirmation that she was on her way to come get them.
He thanked me, and as I walked away, bless him, he asked, "Do I owe you anything?"
"No, sir. Not a thing." I smiled.
It felt good.

I offered to take them home, but they lived in the next town over, a good 40 miles away, so they turned me down.
I have this humongous soft spot for the elderly. Don't tell anyone.![]()
