If anyone has the time, and the inclination, I need the link to the baby names thread we used for Gabrielle, please? A PM would be perfect.

Oh, and I miss you all.
POUNCE!!!!

I went and took the dress out and looked at it. It is a beautiful gown; it was a beautiful day. . .I took pictures of my dress. . .When did the beauty of the journey become ugly?

Did you know... when you blink, tears splash from your lashes.

I hope this macaroni and cheese is good, because there certainly is an impressive quantity of it.

1,400 words today! Woot! :nana:

And that's just so far. I believe I'll get another hour in this evening. :)

I know I'm typecasting and being close-minded...

...but Margot Kidder just NAILED Lois Lane for me. No one else works... and yes, I'm sure it has a lot to do with the age I was then and my impressions because of it...

if you're talking about Superman Returns - both the lead actors were too damned young for their characters and seemed to have no "personality" in the roles. They looked like they were barely out of high school but were supposed to be at the top of their field in news reporting.

I will always love the original version ... the new one was a pale imitation.

I have similar feelings...

Im enjoying my placement, some of the residents are a total laugh, like today i had to be taught how to lead bingo (lmfao...and i was the one leading the activity!) and the ladies were all like 'we'll look after you!' lol...

i must remember to tell L that T and J need prizes...or sort them myself...hmmm.

neways, today my co-ordinator wasnt there, i was kinda in the charge of one of the nurses, but she was very busy, so i said i'd be fine, and said not to worry, i'd get on with my day. So i got there today and i had one to one's with some residents, got talking to them while we worked with some object cards, then i had to improvise for 'musical quiz' time, coz we couldnt find the CD, so we played another board game.

Then it was lunch, i went off to get the pieces for the board ready, and then went off and had lunch. After that i had some time so i woke up my sleepyhead and chatted for a bit. There was still ovr an hour before i was meant to be going round and painting people's nails, so i went to see D, who seems to be rather fond of me, and showed her the photo's and paintings and drawings i promised i'd bring in for her.

She loved them all, loved my sunsets, reminisced about her children and grandchildren when she saw the 2 photo's of my baby sis i put in, and laughed at all the 'wonderful patterns and drawings' i come up with when i 'doodle in class' lol. I was surprised when she really liked the paintings, they are nothing like her late husband's picturesque watercolours. She oved feeling my textured ones, and loved hearing how i used my materials. Im so glad i didnt forget to bring them in, i think she really enjoyed hearing about someone else for once.

After that i went off to paint some nails, bless my ladies who were on the list, they chose their colours and kept still and were so gratuitous!

Then Auntie S caught up with me and asked if i wanted to sit in on a teaching session for the nurses on person centred care, and so i did, and it was very informative, we talked about dementia and altzheimers and watched some DVD's. Very insightful, but i had to leave early because my residents for the afternoon session of bingo were gathering and waiting for me.

So, we had a laugh, and they all kept saying how i was a crap caller lol...i wasnt getting any of their numbers, they all ept lookng at their watches and saying 'you were meant to be off 20 minutes ago!

but trut be told, i wouldnt have gone anywhere if i didnt have to.

I caught up with the nurse i was put with today, and she said she wont be here for the rest of hte week, but that i need to tell my co-ordinator that i did very well today, independently.

I really am enjoying my placement, im learning so much about people ive never worked with before, about them, their lives their families and so on. I'm learning abut me, about what i know i could have done for my grandfather when he was in that condition, and yes, that does make me sad, very sad in fact that i wasnt there for him like i could be now, but i guess i know that i wont be lie that again, and i wont make that mistake of being so upset that i couldnt deal with it. I know thats the worst thing i could do.

Im also learning some patience! my god i know! lol...im not finishing sentences, im eeping a thread of thought if there is a pause that suggests the resident has lost what they were about to say, i am sitting sstill, quiet, not interupting as much!

and to be honest, i wasnt that bad before, but im certainly noticing that im better!

*sighs im not going to want to leave on friday. im seriously going to tal to Auntie S about working there a couple of days a week, paid :)*

You know, jerkoffs like you bother me for some reason . . . spouting off against an institution just because you apparently had some bad run-in with a member or members of it once.

Get over it, and while you're at it, get over yourself. Hatemongering and bitching serves only to get a rise out of people, not prove a point. You lost that ability so very fucking long ago that now all you are is a god damned joke.

The only difference between you and Hitler is the uniform, or lack thereof. Take your petty prejudices and shove them up your ass.

*sigh*

Rant over

Some people are pissants, asshats, idiots, sallyslappers, sideways steves, fuckoffs, pessimestic , ranting little fuckers.

I call them spoiled brats.

ps. that was not directed to anyone in particular. I just hate the immature, run of the mill spoiled brat who spouts more shit coming out of his/her mouth rather than her ass.
