On the most popular islands, yes. But off the beaten path... heaven.

Ah, I see. That does make sense.

And while we are on the subject, the other possible Akrotiri Avatar Choices™ were plentiful; for example, there were the Saffron Gatherers or a lone female figure from Xeste 3, the normally proportioned woman from the House of the Ladies or the not so normally proportioned woman from the same, or Monkeys from Building Beta (just for a slight departure from human subjects).

The frescoes are fascinating, but I prefer the volcanic beaches. Red, white and black sand. Very unique.

That does sound rather unique: and to think, it only took one of the most catastrophic disasters in the whole of human history to make them.

Mother Nature is truly a force to be reckoned with, and a joy to behold. The crater left behind is absolutely gorgeous, and I regret having skipped the submarine tour. ETA: Until recently, my SO had a very acute inner ear problem where any kind of air pressure change was excruciating for him. That's why we didn't go on the submarine.

Indeed. Anything that throws ~70km³ of earth into the sky is something to be reckoned with.

The submarine tour? That would be quite interesting, I think.

Oh, wow! Thanks for finding this. I didn't see any photos of it submerged, so I guess I jumped the gun there.

It looks really cool. Maybe someday...

I was going to look something up, but I can't remember what it was. (Imagine it in a sort of sing-song voice.)
