To be honest, I dont actually have to do it at all. But I'm in a shitty job well below my level of technical expertise and I am watching another company making the same mistakes all over again.
I am figuring that probably no more than 10-15% of the people working there would 'get' the information I am trying to write anyway. But for that 10-15% who probably fall into the "gifted amateur" status I would hope it represents some decent, properly written, and most importantly useful information; that as a by-product also introduces them to some "industry standard" terms and definitions that could help them move up the career ladder. Not to mention be information that treats them as what they are supposed to be, namely product specialists with a degree of technical knowledge.
The basic gist of what I was trying to do was to use a familiar but misunderstood product (namely bluetooth) to introduce people to the 7 layer model, to use that to dispel a lot of the bollocks that people are being told/believe about bluetooth and the associated peripherals. I know its a sort of backwards way of doing it, but to my mind, it is pretty much what the 7 layer model is supposed to do. I can, and have, used it before to explain to people totally un-aware of it before how, for example, a TCP/IP network and the ISDN network operates at a basic level.
