Islamophobe extremist Peter King demonizes Ted Cruz

“My sound bite is to say he’s a fraud,” Mr. King said. “I start with that, and then I go on. It takes me two or three minutes to explain it.”

Jumping ahead to that third minute, Mr. King said precisely what he thought of the Cruz tactic: “It is just a form of governmental terrorism.”

Strong coffee, which Mr. King began pouring last week, a near-solitary voice against what he saw as a cynical maneuver to delude ordinary Republican voters into thinking that President Obama’s health care law could be effectively repealed without winning elections or court cases.

Well, he's right about every bit of that, certainly.

Actually, I believe there's going to be a peaceful public backlash against this demonization effort. The name calling against the Tea Party is now just beyond the pale.

1 in 4 Americans are Tea Party supporters. So, 1 in 4 Americans are now "terrorists" just because they have a political view that some others disagree with?

People will start to get tired of this name calling and demonization tactic. Enough is enough with the incivility.

If the effort is to drive real conservatives completely out of the Republican Party, which is the only thing I can figure out, just how do the rump Republicans expect to win elections?

Do they really think that massive numbers of Democrats will come over and support Democrat Lite? Why vote for that when you can have the real thing?

22% isn't 1 in 4, you round down to 1 in 5.

Ted Cruz isn't a conservative, he's a clown.

Real conservatives reject Cruz' actions. Krauthammer, Will, Coburn, Rick Perry, Ron Johnson, the NRO.... Are they all RINOs now or is Cruz the RINO?

The GOP did this back in 1940 with Wendell Wilkie. Wilkie had been a career Democrat then switched to the GOP to get in the race. FDR said he didn't know why Wilkie wanted to be President as they both had the same views on most things.

Wilkie was a liberal. After the election FDR made him an ambassador.

OTOH, outside of a few solid-red counties, elections can't be won on the votes of "real conservatives" alone; there are not enough of them.

Och, laddie! Ye'll be wantin' a big heavy gun for RRRRRINOs!

I don't believe there s such a thing as "Islamophobia." That would be an irrational fear of Islam and, considering all the murders and other crimes committed in the name of Islam, concern with the faith seems quite rational.

I don't have an irrational fear of motor vehicles, but I look both ways before crossing the street, and I advise others to do the same.

No, that's an untrue statement. The manager of a local Starbucks is Islamic: She wears a hijab. Some of the "men" have a problem, leave. None of the men and women in uniform - city, county, state police, and military - that frequent the place have no problems with it.

That doesn't sound like fear. That sounds like dislike, even hatred. Personally, I wouldn't feel either.

Yes, because YOU have somehow managed to rationalize your hatred for all things Islamic, we all should hate all things Islamic.

Do you blame all Christian churches for the actions of your spiritual brothers and sisters over at Westboro Baptist?

First, this thread is not about me; it's about Peter King. Second, I despise the WBC probably as much as anybody on this site, although I have never had any encounters with them. One thing I will say in their favor is they do stay within the law.

Third, the WBC is a tiny group, probably no more than about thirty members, and they have been disowned by most or all other Baptist churches and by the national leadership, to the degree there is such an entity. On the other hand, there are millions of Islamist and jihadi and Taliban and Al Qaeda, and they all murder without mercy.

FYI, I see quite a few Muslims during my comings and goings, and have no negative thoughts about them. I have no reason to consider them evil and, therefore have no animosity toward them.

Indeed, enough is enough.

They stayed within the law? So did the Nazis, until they got into power.

Oh, so tiny groups are exempt? Then you're essentially agreeing with me, the difference we have is at what point numbers-wise do we hold the entire religion responsibile for the actions of it's fringe sects.

It's worth noting that the CIA estimates there are no more than 200 members of Al Qaeda remaining in the world today, is Islam no longer responsible for their actions now that their membership has declined?

That's nice. I see a lot of people coming and going too...I tend not to characterize them based on their religious faith. But then, I'm a better person than you.
