Hm. Apparently U.S. air support was made contingent on the Iranian-backed Shi'a militias pulling out of the fight, which they have.

The Iraqi forces have retaken Tikrit. However, there might still be some ISIS fighters holding out in some neighborhoods, and they have a lot of bombs and booby-traps to disarm.

Well at least the major fighting is over and the Iraqi police and Army are going to 'do something'.

Now if the Iraqi's can integrate their forces, mixing the populations so that the Sunni and Shia have to cooperate or die, then they will have made major progress.

I'll not hold my breath though.
