Is the Story or Member Search Functions Working?

I've been trying to perform some simple searches on the Story Index Web page for authors and members, but I seem always be getting the following message:

Literotica®com

Whoops!
(This is an error page.)

There was a problem with something or another that wouldn't let us do something that we were supposed to do.
Click here to email the webmaster and let them know that something went wrong.

I can find what I'm looking for by doing the "long" searches through the main listings, but it is pain (yeah, I'm spoiled).

Anybody having similar problems?

Does anybody know what may be the problem?

Does anybody really fucking care?

And, no, I haven't e-mailed the webmaster--yet.

Oh the irony!

Are the Story or Member Search Functions Working?

To answer your question effectively and to the best of my ability: I have no idea. I have not tried.

If you're going to correct me, do it properly:

Is the Story or Member Search Function Working?

Thanks, for nothing.

The last time I tried to search for an author's page (about three days ago) I got the same message. I don't know if it's the search engine, or the database index that's the problem -- with the recent series of evening crashes, I suspect it's the index, and it will take some time to fix.

Thanks for confirming, WH.

I was using it a few weeks ago (a very convenient feature, obviously). Hope they're able to repair it.

Wonky internal clocks, bad hard drives, defective DB indices...that doesn't sound like a site serving up hundreds of thousands of pages a day to me.

But you could be right, WH.

Another possibility: VBulliten sites are vulnerable to hacks through Search functions, which is why some sites turn them off along with Unregistered and Guest functions. The fewer user functions that are live to the DB, the fewer doors that are open to hacks.

Way cool conspiracy theory, Lance. You must spend hours giggling over your recycl--er, new ideas about L & M in your concrete anti-ClitClique Bunker.

Of course, WH is perfectly correct. As always. It's hardware/software problems. They installed a new server to handle the load and it's not meshing like it's supposed to. Things have been interesting in LitLand.

Not theory, just facts from the VBulliten support site.

I looked them up when Ish started his Hacker Conspiracy a few months ago.

That being said, it's informative of you to announce there's a new Lit server suffering integration problems.

Good to know there is no hacking going on. Yay!

Cheers

The sky is not falling, chicken little -- the BB search function is working fine; it's the story database search script that isn't working. The two search functions are totally separate.

Hey, either is fine. Life is a story and we are all players.
