Is prosetry allowed on Literotica?

Hi, guys. I wrote something the other day I'm quite proud of, but it's a piece of prosetry, so basically more like a snapshot of more poetic prose, I guess you could say. I went to look in the poetry section here, and it seems like more traditional pieces are what's accepted and expected, with line-breaks and rhyme structures and so on. Would my piece get rejected?

It's really nowhere near long enough for the story section, but padding it out would ruin it, so I dunno.

Welcome to the poetry forum. We're separate from the part of the site that accepts submissions and publishes them. We have zilch to do with that here. But I think the answer to your question does lie in the length of your submission. I would go to the main story page and check the submissions FAQ. i think that'll tell you the number of words that determines whether what you wrote is categorized as a poem or a story. You can also go to the Editor's Forum and ask there. Bottom line though is if you submit your piece as a poem it should be published as one unless it's too long. But as far as the genre, lots of people have published prose poems here for years.

I hope that helps. And please feel free to participate in any of the threads here or start your own. All genres of poetry are welcome here on the forum.

All right, thanks so much for the help anyway! And my apologies, I hadn't realised that. Thank you as well for the welcome, however. I really appreciate it.

Update: my prosetry work got sent back. Blergh. Apparently, there was 'too much plot' in it, even though it's very vague. You aren't told the setting, who the characters are, why any of this is happening, etc. I have to upload it to Stories under the expanded word count, but that's just going to ruin this piece. This is art, not a building under construction :\

Could you post it here instead? Not the same as posting on the poetry part, but maybe an option…

I’d be interested what it look like and how it read. I think I write like this, but I’m not sure.

I think this is the piece the OP is referring to.

It's great to hear that you came up with something that you're proud of like that. I don't think the style is a problem for lit. I think a prosetry story is permitted and the issue is minimum word count. Being 750 words, it seems. This is my example of that kind of blended writing. Obviously, it went through in stories just fine, so I guess word count is the thing?

Either way, I am very into that style, and encourage you to do more. Maybe with a different piece you would reach the minimum. You could even try the same thing, and go for a project that is exactly 750 words. That is fun :)

Keep blending and happy writing!

A good question. I fooled around w/it while back and came up with these two.
W.L.I.T. radio for the masses and Fairyland theatre one a poem, the other a story.
