Is it wrong to have sub communities in Literotica?

You heard the question?

What is the fucking deal? Who gives a shit if people form groups or as so many people put it... Cliques.

I am really getting annoyed by that term.

FROM NOW ON THAT WORD IS STRICKEN FROM MINE EARS!

What is the real problem with having sub communities or even sub cultures as we have with the BSDM crowd?

Nothing.

Just something to bitch about.

Let's remember to bitch about things that matter like lack of peanut butter in this thread, and a major lack of cock and pussy.

Bitch #1-

Lack of any dick action.

Bitch #2-

Why the heck is it so cold down south?

;)

thanks starfish, i've had that same thought for awhile now

april. 2 cocks and only 1 pussy?

that seems unfair unless the second gets the peanutbutter :)

You had me with the thread title, baby.

Sub communities?
Can i join?
:D

What difference does it make?

Seems to me that each thread constitutes a micro-community in itself. I move from one to another as my whim leads me. I create them. Some fly, some don't.

Sometimes I am shallow. Sometimes I am deep.

The only thing wrong is when one of these communities takes it upon itself to judge the other communties as bad. There's nothing wrong with thinking one won't fit in or having no interest in it, but there is something terribly wrong when one community thinks that another community is bad.

We have a bunch of sub-communities and it's never been a problem before.

I would just like to say that as a Cultural Anthropology student, I am eating this all up.

This is like a term paper waiting to happen.

:p

Oh and for the record, I agree with KM.

Just a comment, we here at the GB do it all the time, who here among us hasn't at some point made a wise crack about Personal board....They have been the butt of jokes on a number occasions, the GB certainly takes itself too seriously sometimes....That being said, Fishyyyyyyyyyyy where's that pussy baby????;) :p

Um, hon... It isn't about groups with different interests forming a sub community or culture - its about being exclusive instead of inclusive.

The thing is, for the most part, we are inclusive... but there are individuals who come to lit and don't see it right away, so they complain that we are exclusive and cliquish. *THATS* where the problems is.

Thoughts from a "newbie" (ugh!)

I have to agree with Black Bird on this one. As in any *community*, there are going to be trouble makers and highly opinionated, pushy people. I ignore them. I ignore trolls and fight threads. I came here for the sex. . .duh!!. . .and for the chance to express my sexual inquisitiveness. As a pleasant surprise, I found a whole lot more. While I may not get involved in the heated discussions of politics, religion, etc., I do read them and have been impressed by the overall level of intelligence being expressed on a "porn" site.

Until now, I never really thought about there being sub-communities between the boards. I tend to post in the GB and the personals, but have been in all of them at one time or another. I think people stay in one "area" out of habit. I have also noticed that Personals tends to be more sexually explicit, which may not appeal to some people.

The GB has more long-term "regular" members and YES that can be intimidating to new members.

Anyway, that's my .02 :D Going to check out the personals now! :p

I am trying to mediate this in my brain. You are undoubtedly correct, but what is to be done about it?

What is odd, is that given some time to think, I am not so sure there is any good reason I started this thread than a vent for peanut butter.

Back on Cheye's thread, I vented on her about that matter.

What is sad and pathetic about me now is that I actually think that the problem that Cheyenne presented is valid, even though I gave her shit.

I wish I didn't do that, but I felt as though this wouldn't have happened hadn't I gotten involved over there. I just didn't really want my prophecy to come true, this soon, because it is more drama I don't need. Honestly. It is finals week, I have the flu, and a nasty chest cold, I have my period, and my BACK HURTS! :( I am snippy and feeling crappy about that now.

She is really right that the fact that the community you are talking about is tucked away and hidden from those who just don't happen upon it. It's all up to chance in a place that is designed to be easy to navigate, so that all parts can be shared.

Not everyone goes into that place because of the Header of the section.

Is that fair that the fun is only being had by them? No.

What for me to do, what to do?

I've got it...[insert foot in mouth] :p

Rain checking that massage.........;)

I'm starting a new clique only for people with easily recognizable initials, you know, like KM or PC or PH.

Sorry T, D and L, (Todd, Dillinger and Laurel), you'll have to stay on your side of the lunchroom.

You know, maybe I'm blind or out of the loop, but I don't really see sub communities here on the General Board. I don't feel I belong to one. I have friends here across the spectrum, from old timers to new arrivals.

I do see friendships developing, but it's not like once you make a friend, you are somehow in a certain group.

I don't know - just my take on it.

On the personals board, I believe the new threads are a great thing. I think people should meet and chat on here, and not just trade stat's looking to find some hot lovin'.

Why don't they post on the GB? I think it's because many of the long term members frequent here, and that can be a bit intimidating. Also, over here, you almost get a sense that everyone knows each other (which is mostly true) and they would feel like they're intruding.

I've noticed most of the threads are light-hearted and fun on the personals, over here we get some more serious discussion mixed in with the rest. There's nothing wrong with that of course.

On cliques, they happen, can't stop them. Of all the 'cliques' on here, I think they are welcoming and friendly. Really just groups of friends.

I'm not in one, but I don't see a problem with them. In a sub-community you get to talk with people about what you find interesting, and even get a little more attention from the others there.

So basically, peace & Love folks. In my opinion it's not that big of a deal.

Ruby, this is all a sort of guilish way for me to see what some of the GBr's are feeling about the community that has formed in the Personal's section. What community? Well, that is part of the problem. Some people there view people in a light that is very inaccurate. Also, the fact that the board genre exists under a heading that is misleading.

Good. I am glad this thread got replies.

I thank you all.

Diplomacy deployed.

Hopefully it will make a slight point to some that need to think about the things you've all expressed here.

This is all my fault you know.

I am such a naughty girl.
