My Father dealt with similar ignorance over the difference between FrancIs and FrancEs (male and female respectively) his entire life and never, signed anything with his middle name spelled out.

I can assure you that Marion is a fairly common female first name in Germany. And no, it is not a misspelling of Marian, which I don't think we really have. At least I've never met anyone in Germany called that, though I have met several Marions. The closest equivalent would probably be Marianne.

I thought it was Carrol O'Conner (two rs), and that was what made the destinction. If I'm wrong, dismiss my post and carry on . . . .
