Is it possible to have a family-friendly Litogether?
The purpose of a Litogether is to meet the people we've been posting with. To be with friends in an atmosphere where we can be ourselves and express ourselves as we do on the boards here. To express our sexuality as we feel fit at the moment. A place where we don't have to watch what we say and fear judgement or be afraid that our children might hear something they shouldn't. A time to listen, learn, and explore.
I learned this past weekend ... that a Litogether can be child-friendly. My plans were re-arranged for me Sunday and I ended up taking my child back to the hotel of the Litogether. We all went out for lunch, child included. Everyone was very friendly to him, and although there was an occasional slip of the tongue here and there, he came home still thinking I was at a birthday party.
I believe Jag said it best in his reflection of last weekend:
So this is the plan ...
Last year, several of us met in Sioux City, IA for a festival called Saturday In The Park (SITP). It was a wonderful time, lots of laughs, friendships made stronger, and B.B. King live.
This year the festival falls on July 5th. We are planning a family-friendly Litogether to celebrate both Independence Day and attend SITP. The children will be well-entertained, getting to know each other and building their own friendships. They will have a room of their own (the age-range will vary, but there are older ones to watch the younger ones) equipped with video games, movies, and junk food.
They will have time to swim in the pool. There is also a kids corner at SITP where they can enjoy the rides and other activities while the adults entertain the beer garden security guards.
We have a hotel chosen near the park. If you are interested, let me know. The more of us we have, the more chance of a good group-rate at the hotel, and the more fun we can all have.

As I sit here with my cup of coffee, I cannot help but reflect upon my first Litogather and think what they truly mean.
A Litogether is NOT the orgy that many of the people whom have not attended one, seem to come to think. Yes, there are some whom get lucky, and others whom do not. Does it really matter if you got lucky? No, that should not have been your goal in the first place.
A Litogether is about being able to be in a place, where you can be whom you are, without persecution. Being able to sit down and discuss a topic, that despite our country's claim of openess, is still quite a bit shunned. To be able to openly discuss the many aspects of sex.
It is for the young couple just learning D/s lifestyle to learn from the more experienced couple. It is a place to learn how to properly give your mate a relaxing massage. A place to learn how to please your partner with different tricks others have passed on.
A Litogether is about being able to meet and spend time with those of whom you have chatted with on the boards and enjoyed each others writing work. It is about sharing writing techniques and discussing works in progress. But it is about the laughter, the jokes, the good times that we all shared. Its an escape from a straightlaced world, to a world where you are accepted for enjoying wearing latex and leather. Where you are accepted for being a naturalist, and perhaps a place to learn about being a naturalist.
In the end, a Litogether is its own entity, it is a place where you can feel free to be yourself. And that is truly, more valuable than the skin deep tone that those whom have not attended, place upon it. The memories gathered here, the friendships gained, last a lifetime.
