Is it necessary to change years this often?

I still think we abandoned the 1990's too soon. 2005 hardly happened at all. I move that we celebrate a new year every two years, and eventually every five years. Instead of ending 2006 next Dec. 31 at midnight, we could continue it as 2006 v. 1.5. Stop being a throw-away society.

No.

The current administration's term in office already seems endless.

I think we should recycle some years that didn't nearly enough use to start with. I vote for 1865-1900.

The voice of reason. Just as I was thinking it was a good idea...

I'd could make good use of do-over for 1983 thru '87.

No didn't like those years, 1964 - 1968. Now those were good years culminating in the Democratic Convention here in Chicago. Now there was an embarrassment to the Democrates!

Ok, but can we please skip the hairdos?

I'm almost there....I probably won't change out my 2005 calendar until about May...my office calendar is a 2001 version...there will be a year that the dates, and the days will match again...

Ooh, you get an avatar now. :)

drksideofthemoon starts off the new year with avatar elgibility. What a rush!

I realize shereads has already dropped her original idea, however, I'd like to make a counter-proposal. Let's celebrate a new year every three months. That way as the end of what currently passes for 2006 approaches, it'd actually be 2008 and time to run Bush back to Crawford.

Just a thought.

In our eagerness to wave buh-bye to Dubya, are we forgetting something?

Regarding the 80's: I didn't say I wanted to relive those years. I said I wanted a do-over.

I don't really recall the 90s, was too busy working to pay attention to them, however, while we are making changes: Let's quit messing with the clock, either leave it on Daylight's Saving Time or off of it, but let's just use the same time year round.

Naw, really boring years there! Although with a do over I could maybe spice thing up a little the second time around. Will I get to know what I know now?
