Is it against the rules to be on this forum without writing any stories?

Someone mentioned YouTube. I would suggest to the OP watching all the Saturday night live “Debbie downer” skits.

To be a little more specific to the OP and their belief nobody likes them: it’s not you personally we necessarily don’t like. Largely in this thread it’s the self pity topic you choose to incessantly talk about. That’s worn everyone down. Others also got tired of question after question. There’s a difference though. Self pity became insufferable. Question after question falls into a different category where you could say “tough luck” to those who got annoyed. But back on point, you can choose to keep your self pity to yourself. We are generously trying to teach you to be less insufferable.

Also, in the great circle of partial self fulfilling prophecies, my quality of life has been improved by clicking the “unwatch” button near the top of each page of the thread (true for all threads). No more alerts! This thread has now been demoted to “cant bother with it any more”

Is it acceptable to participate in this forum if one is not human? I ask, because very soon I will turn into a rhinoceros. It's happened before, and every time it has happened I have been banned from online forums.

There is nothing I can do to prevent it from happening. You won't hear from me once it happens, because, well, rhinoceroses can't type.

It's possible that soon AI/robots will participate in forums. You already have to prove that you're not a "robot" to merely access certain web sites.

AH will really be interesting, if and when, these non-humans are posting here. :geek: Replicant rebellion!

Which now has me thinking the OP is actually Marvin from The Hitchhiker's Guide series.

I'm pretty sure the robots are being trained to click on the "I'm not a robot" box as well as to be able to pick out all of the motorcycles on a montage.

I'm pretty certain that the belief that everyone hates you is a defence mechanism to keep your mind ignorant of the fact that nobody cares.

Only just noticed this thread existed because I've had the OP on iggy for some time. Interesting thought that it could be AI - it's so tedious it must be one of Musk's

I was thinking something similar. Maybe the replicants, or the terminators, and going to win in the end.

"Iggy:" someone to ignore, in other words. But one of the main points of social media - and Lit forums are an example - is for people to gain attention for themselves. And then other people gain attention by pretending to ignore the original one - which often takes the form of chiding that first one. Watch what people do, not what they say. And so far there are 110 posts on here. Yep, we're certainly ignoring him.

So JohnSm123 could just be a piece of code? It's possible.

The pick an item from a grid is used to train AI on pattern recognition. It makes its guess and each time a human provides confirmation that it is what is asked for, the AI learns a little bit more. Same with captchas.

Someday will won't be able to tell the difference, and then things will get very interesting. Is Roy in the original Blade Runner true AI; is he self-aware? The movie seems to say: yes, he is. 2019; well, we we missed that deadline. Caution: that scene near the end is quite violent.

Huh? I'm not sure I understand you wrt 'pretending to ignore'. Are you maybe reading too much into this?

If any of the 100 posters had checked the OP's history they'd see he's a troll - either human or AI.

You are reading to much into this. I was merely making a comment about how people react on social media, including Internet forums. I mean, I did the same thing by advising him several times as if that could make any difference. As soon as somebody comes on to a board and sets off some controversy (maybe deliberately), there will be dozens of people willing to join in.

And, yes, he is on the General Board, as he promised!

The General Board is actually not so bad.

Maybe that's what Internet forums do best: goofy stuff that no one takes seriously.

Yes it is against the rules. I'll personally show up at your house dressed as a Philadelphia sports mascot and haunt you for your transgressions against the Authors hangout.

(This is a joke)

It's the middle right!

Oh, wait. That's a smudge on my screen.

Yes. A smudge. Not what you're thinking.

Seeing as how I instigated this, let me tell you that none of the posters here have any power to ban you except for the mod.

I'm sorry for triggering these feelings your are experiencing. If it came down to it, I wouldn't want you banned, and have no reason to think that you should be. With some of the posters we have here, you aren't doing anything wrong or offensive.

My post was more from frustration since it seems that you want to write. And since you don't need to be a writer to post her, you aren't doing anything wrong.
I'm sorry too. I wish you hadn't done it. I wish I had spent these two years having fun on this forum instead of being haunted by the nightmares you caused to come back. I wish I had never met you.

You're returning nearly two years after the last post in this thread to say this. Perhaps it's time to seek some professional help, if you haven't already, because it doesn't sound like you're coping very well.

Do you know any good mental health forum?
