Is it against the rules to be on this forum without writing any stories?

Do I run the risk of being banned if I keep posting here without writing stories?

A place for writers and readers to socialize and discuss the craft of writing.

That is the sign that hangs over the front door of this place.

You're not going to be banned.

What we're trying to say, given that all of your posts are asking about story content, is to get on and write something.

What we're seeing is a whole lot of over-thinking. Writing means getting on and doing it, which we're all assuming is what you want to do.

Why would you be banned?
Because it has happened on many forums. At some point, members express their annoyance at my posting habits, and soon after, I receive one or another variation of this message, which I've grown so familiar with over the years:

You have been banned from (insert forum name).

Reason: No reason.

Date the ban will be lifted: Never.

Please contact the mods if you have any questions.

Then I send emails to the mods, asking them what I did wrong, what rule I broke, apologizing for whatever I did wrong, and asking whether we can find a peaceful solution. Never, not even once in my life, have I gotten a response to any of those emails.

Now I can feel it the same thing will happen here too. Whoever runs this forum will ban me forever and will not respond to my emails even if that means the end of the world.

I want you to know I had a nice time here and I'll miss you. I wish I had stayed long enough to write a story, but now it's too late. I'm as good as banned. Goodbye, people, forever.

You need to read these replies more closely. You've got people supporting you, trying to give you positive guidance, trying to be helpful.

Nobody is banning you. Seriously, no one has even suggested that - except you.

Hang in there :).

When you say you've been banned on many boards, how many is that exactly? 2? 3? 20? More? My curiosity is killing me!

It's pretty hard to get banned unless you are a total and utter A hole all the time. There are plenty of us around who are only a little bit of an A hole some of the time and we get by just fine.

I don't understand. How can you not be writing stories? Is it even possible to not be writing stories?

Apagorefteiphobia doxophobia allodoxaphobia.

It's a thing, apparently. Well... it is now.

The fear of being banned for writing about the fear of being banned for writing about not writing?
I was going for the fear of being banned (apagorefteiphobia) with the fear of forums [fear of expressing opinions (doxophobia) + fear of hearing others' opinions (allodoxaphobia)].

It reminds me of Latin lessons: have some words, now interpret them in eighteen different ways.

doxophobia is more likely the fear of god (says I, having studied Latin for two whole years some thirty-plus years ago, making me an expert).

I will say in my 40 years, off and on, as a forum participant and moderator (NOT here, guys!), this is certainly the most creative trolling I've seen. Kudos to the OP. "Beat me, whip me, make me write bad posts."

There are untold numbers of members who are only here as readers. (Some of them have favorited - hundreds? - of stories.) Then there others, like those on the Playground (a sub-forum of Personals) who spend their days writing goofy posts. The site doesn't care about your purpose for being here.

I think you mentioned that you were banned from some other site or sites. Has Lit ever contacted you like that? About what, exactly?

I am 99.9999% certain that @AlinaX is making a joke. "I love writing so much, how is is possible to not love writing?!"

Yeah. Hence my comment - this guy needs to be ignored if he's messing about or needs psychiatric help if he's serious.

John, like on most social media, I have no idea of who you really are. I have read some of your posts, and I don't think you are trolling or necessarily crazy. (I'm not qualified to make such a judgment.) However, you do seem seriously - confused? I do have to ask: what do you want from being here, if anything? If you have no goal, than that is your business, but maybe you shouldn't be bringing up the same topic so often.
