Is America Ready For An Openly Gay Baseball Player?

First, I love America. I wouldn't trade being American for ANYTHING. And I love baseball..heh

BUT, America isn't ever ready for ANYTHING. We can't even handle boobies without getting all goofy. Sigh...

You know, there's a certain male poet that I know who likes to stick the word piazza in all of his sensual poetry.

This means something.

There have always been rumors about Roberto Alomar too, high-profile ex-girlfriend notwithstanding.

I don't see anyone coming out in a team sport anytime soon. Male, that is--I assume there are some female basketball players who are out to their teammates and coaches, if not publicly.

I don't think America will ever be ready for a gay major league team sports player. Same with the military. Must be something about not being "macho" enough, or something!

It's a shame! Doesn't matter to be at all!:rose:

LOL

The reason I said Piazza is that he went on record yesterday denying his homoness.

I think his denial was stupid. Who cared or suspected him before this? I'll take a Rip Taylor on the Cardinals if it means he hits .400.

Funny you should mention the Cardinals Marxist. It's been rumored since he got here that Jim Edmonds is very bi if not gay. The rumor about Piazza has been around for a few years.

Agreed.... why would anyone ask Piazza such a stupid question.... irrelevant.....who cares....

however, problem with Rip Taylor is he got no glove....

He does strike me as gay or bi, but I feel sorry for anyone that he ass slams. Have you seen the size of his hips?

Shut up. I look at those kinds of things.

IMHO

One thing that has not been mentioned is the affect a gay player would have on his own financial status. It would cripple someone like Piazza or any other big name player to come up into the open, IF they were gay. The endorsement deals would dry up quick. The players agent would also play an influencial role in any decision to announce such a thing, and would probably be very against it.

Here is the fact...Mike Piazza is not gay. The newspaper that wrote the original article took quotes from two different stories, and meshed them together to benifit their controversial story. And to Piazza's credit, he didn't come out and attack the media or anyone else, he held a quiet news conference to debunk the rumor, and had a rather humurous approach to it.

Yes the rumor has been there for several years, something to with a NY Weather reporter. This reporter is also a friend of Howard Stern's, who also claims that there is no relationship there.

I think it's just a classic case of the media conjuring up more to something than there really is, their job IS to sell newspapers. And pinning such a story to a figure like Mike Piazza is going to benifit them far more than if it was just some scrub.
