I think it might be useful, interesting, fun to try. So long as you're aware. There was something on a TV current affairs show last night talking about AI. How it will impact jobs, and how it is creeping into our lives. Fine. We'll cope.
But one thing got me.
The presenter mentioned Reddit, the forum. I've used it now and again. Not my first go-to place, but it has been useful. The point the presenter was making was to point out that some of the posts had been made by AI. Though, I have to mention that they said the posts were identified as being AI generated. Even so, what the hell?
The posts in Reddit were flagged, and that's fine, but if they end up not being marked then that would be a poor state of affairs. AI makes mistakes. Most of the forums I go to are how-to affairs. Car repair forums, metalwork forums, etc. If I want to know how to weld something I want the advice coming from a human. Someone who has actually welded, not a computer quoting a sentence from a manual, or worse, making stuff up. And AI does make things up.
Reddit is a clusterfuck with snowflake moderators that will ban you at the drop of a hat. Ask me how I know.
I questioned a mod once about a temp. ban they gave me. I asked him if it was another case of a snowflake moderator. Within 2 minutes I get a message that I'm permanently suspended from Reddit!
No great loss, the place is a cesspool anyway.
