Is America open to change

Australia dropped 1 and 2c coins a while ago.
It caused a bit of confusion because retailers still price goods as if they were still circulating.
The gov't decreed prices would be charged by rounding - so a 12-99 goes up to 13, but a 12-91 goes down to 12-90. 1 and 2 round down, 3 and 4 round up.
If you're super miserly, you can take advantage in small ways... for example, by putting $20-02 petrol in the tank each time. Over a while (a LONG while!) you actually end up with free fuel.

Now there's some talk about getting rid of 5c pieces too.

I am for dollar coins and abolishing nickels and dimes.

;) ;)

You say that now....
We've had $1 and 2 coins for a while.
Go out shopping for a day, and you come back with loads of coins. I take them out of my purse as soon as I can, because they weigh so much.
One day last month, I went out with $348 in coins that I had collected over the previous 3 months!

I use plastic for everything; either the rewards card or the debit card.

I bought a new table saw a couple years ago with my change...bills you gotta spend but change you can toss in a drawer.

Right now I have close to $1000.00...time to do the Christmas shopping:D

My man does this. So many coins simply do not fit in a mens wallet!
Every so often, I go through all his pockets, car pockets, drawers, and travel bags.... and usually come out with a couple of hundreds.

I cannot see ever having more that three dollar coins at once, but you can end up with a buttload of pennies and nickels...

Four years ago my son decided I needed a 2 foot tall Dr. Pepper bottle bank for Christmas. (Yes, I'm a pepper too.)

So I started throwing my change in it every day as he wanted me to fill it up like I make him fill his bank. Fine. I did it. When he and I counted it last November, it held $1733.71.

I'm forever a believer in change from then on.
