What kind of fucking person in their right mind can go to work and completely forget that their 7 month old child is in the backseat of their van? Not to mention that they worked the entire day and did not discover their (now) dead child in the van until hours later. The child died from dehydration inside the van, due to the 90 degrees summer heat.

But what's worst, the jury found the mother of the child INNOCENT. Is Iowa saying that it's okay to leave you child in the hot summer heat of your vehicle? Is child abuse just as acceptable in Iowa as child neglect is? What the fuck does our justice system prove by setting a child killer free into our society?

It is a sad state of affairs JD. We, on occaison have had the same thing happen here in Ohio. Luckily they have found these idiots guilty, and sent them to prison.

My only regret is that the punishment should fit the crime. They should lock these assholes in a car and let them share the same fate!;)

It happens a lot in North Carolina as well. I heard about the Iowa case. I guess they are saying that stupid people should be given a break.

I also agree with Christopher, lock the idiots in their cars. Fry their asses.

I got a better case for you. Here in California, the news media just happen to be on the scene when a policeman approached a van where two kids were locked in while their Mom went into the store to buy lottery tickets. Just as the policeman removed his PR-24 (nightstick) to crash the window and unlock the van, the mother approached the van and asked what the problem was. It was clear that the children were exhausted from the extreme heat and the policeman even gave them water that they literally devoured. Needless to say, the mother was arrested right there on the camera. All she could claim was that she was shopping for the kids. Sure, 2 bags of groceries were present in her grocery basket but so were the lotto tickets in her hands.

And that is a great idea. Throw away the electric chair and use minivans in summer heat as capital punishment instead.

GuyJD, as I type tears stream down my face for this baby, and so many others who have senselessly died. I have no details but wonder at the cruelty of a person who would blatantly neglect their baby, leaving an infant alone for five mins let alone a whole day and the jury finds the party innocent? WTF is wrong with our world?

One here in Houston a while again involved a woman who was out all night drinking. She was so drunk that she left her can in a parking lot with her infant still inside and walked home. The stupid female couldn't even remember where she parked the car!The car was found abandonded the next afternoon with the baby dead. Needless to say, she was arrested.

The kicker is that last i heard she was blaming her husband saying something about it was him that put the baby in the car. i don't know about anyone else, but i would never trust someone who is drunk/stoned with my children.

Oh yeah....last i heard both her husband and her were trying to get her off of the murder charge. If i remember correctly, it worked; i think they downgraded it to child endangerment. i know there are other Texans here; so feel free to correct my erroneous recollection of this particular event.
