Hello, all those who frequent the Cafe.

I've been enjoying reading your discussions for a while now, and have found this a thought-provoking, occasionally amusing, and very interesting place to lurk.

Lately, I've been posting a bit too, and I'd like to continue to do so. So . . . I thought I'd introduce myself. I don't know where else that would be appropriate (I'm still working out the finer points of "netiquette", so please be patient if I commit the occasional blunder or faux pas), so I thought I might as well start my own thread.

From what I've seen so far, this is a group of very friendly, intelligent, and often playful posters, and I hope I get a chance to stay for a while.

Welcome to the board.....and hope you do stay. Hopefully you will find it as friendly, fun, and informative place as we have.:)

Thank you, Catalina. And thank you as well, RJ.

It's nice to feel welcome. :)

Hi there, Miss Smarty Pants! Why don't you tell us a little something about yourself, seeing as you've read our most intimate confessions already? :D

Hi everyone. Thanks for the hellos, Cutie and Quint.

I'm perfectly happy to tell you about myself, but I'm not sure where to start. Hmm, let's see . . .

I'm female, 19 years old, and I live in Vancouver, BC where I go to school. I'm taking a Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology (specifically genetics) and I also want to minor in English Literature.

I first came to Lit to read, and then later I became a volunteer editor. And now I'm finally frequenting the forums. Who knows? Maybe one day I'll actually whip up some creativity and write and submit a story here.

What else do ya want to know about me?

How are you doing Gracie love? :rose:

LOL Well, I've been better. Finally got home yesterday, after a total of 10 days in the hospital, with no insurance. I'm praying that I can get the state to pay my hospital bill. I'm still on massive pain meds, morphine to be exact, and I'm still really sick. I'm having trouble walking, my legs are just not feeling like getting off the ground, and i"m hoping it's just muscle loss. I"ve lost 35 lbs since I started getting sick a couple of weeks ago, and I know that a good deal of that is muscle. So, while I'm better, I'm not better enough, and it's gonna be a while before I am better.

Nope, sorry . . . no candy Kajira. Or at least not any I've learned to send over the internet. Though if you're really craving that kind of thing, I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding something (or someone) sweet to lick around here . . . :D

Graceanne, so sorry to hear you've been sick lately. Even though we hadn't spoken before, I was sending you mental well wishes whenever I read of your troubles this last little while. Thanks for the welcome, and I'm sure I'll enjoy getting to know you better too.

Anna Sue, whereabouts in BC are you? (If you don't mind me asking, that is)

Just kinda eerie...I came to Lit at 18 as a volunteer editor/pretentious writer, majoring in Letters which is a combination of literature, foreign language, and philosophy, but I've always been inexplicably drawn to genetics. Can't really address the Canada discrepancy but otherwise, damn, this is neat!

More questions, not to be answered with "yes" or "no." :D

Interest in BDSM of a philosophical or practical nature?

Favorite dessert?

Quirky pet phrase?

Greatest thing about life in B.C. right now?

Song that you've been humming recently?

Oh . . . had enough of dear old Mike and Norah for now? :p

My interest in BDSM is both in the theory and a little bit in the practice. I'd like to explore the latter more in time, but for now I'm just content with my fascination at figuring out how I (and others) "tick", so to speak. And also with learning to accept and address things within myself that I've always known were there, but never acknowledged before.

I've always had a thing for really good fresh strawberries . . . with anything. Chocolate covered, with vanilla ice cream, just by themselves . . . but maybe that's just me craving what I know I can't have right now because there's no way I could find a decent strawberry here this time of year.

I don't think I have a quirky pet phrase . . . I had a pet bunny that I rescued as a baby this summer and raised by hand. Does that count?

The greatest thing about life in BC right now has got to be that my exams are over in just over a week. Okay, if that doesn't count I must admit I like the weather here too -- not too hot and not too cold. Just maybe a little too wet occasionally.

And last but not least, I haven't had a song stuck in my head for a while. The only thing on repeat up there right now is the five pages of botany jargon I had to memorize for my last exam. I'd give anything to make that track stop playing . . .

d'oh, am i too late to say hi?

well, i'm doing it anyway!!! hello! ^_^ welcome to our little online home which has remained mostly tidy for years now! (don't spill nuthin on the carpet)

Hello, silver_inari. And you too, bunny. No, you're definitely not too late. Thanks for the welcome.

And I solemnly swear to keep all fluids off the carpet. (Trying really hard to keep a straight face here . . .)

Anna Sue, I've been up that way once. I'm down in Vancouver where there's plenty of rain but no snow though. I almost think snow would be fun right now . . . but I'm sure I'd change my mind after being cold for a few days.

I guess the trick is to have someone to warm you up after coming in out of the cold, isn't it?

I actually prefer the snow. Where I lived before, I had weather like in Vancouver and I hated it.

The cold is not so bad because it is dry. I was down in Vancouver two months ago for a Seminar and I had to use my winter cloth because I was freezing all the time.
Yes you are right it helps when you have somebody to warm you up ;)

Vancouver...nice..I remember going there as a kid, I loved it. If I remember correctly there were some botanical gardens in Vancouver that I adored, even as a young kid.

Van Dusen gardens, perhaps?

My first thought was actually perhaps the UBC Botanical Gardens. But I think it was just the "botanical" part sparked the connection . . .
