I don't know how you go about introducing yourself to a forum, so how about you ask the questions and I'll answer them?

Tooting my own horn, so to speak, isn't something I'm good at nor comfortable with :)

So feel free to ask and I'll answer.

Well I'll go first since no one else seems to be asking.

Welcome to the How To forum LG. I've noticed you on the GB the odd time I've lurked there and must say the overall impression I've gotten of you is that you're intelligent, wise, caring, and have your head on straight...all traits that will bode well for your role here as moderator.

Perhaps I might ask why you thought it might be interesting to moderate the How To forum? How you came to find Lit at all? How long you've been around Lit (sorry forgot to check before I started posting)? What you enjoy most about Lit in general?

Thanks for offering to field questions.

Welcome

I think we tend to take this place for granted. It take a lot of work to keep a site like this up. The fact that you would take on a huge job like taking care of a forum is awesome.
I know some have complained about what you MIGHT do, but you do what you feel you need to do.
I know that you did not take this on lightly. I have owned and managed radio stations for years and sometimes you just have to do what is best for the group. I wish you all the best and I am sure you will do what is fair to all.
Thank you for caring enough about the site to volunteer your time.
And I love the AV.

No questions, just letting you know I support you and believe will hear the people out and do what you think is right.

Take care
Spenser

How would you go about determining the lifting capacity of a European Swallow, LadyG? I mean, it seems like a given that a 5 oz bird couldn't hoist a 1 lb coconut, but is there some way to determine that?

Hello and welcome :)

Hows' about some general info..

favourite colour/band/item of clothing/season/ lit story category?

Lets see if we can get to know the person behind the Mod title :)

Okay, here goes :)

I've been at Lit for over two years now, I actually found the place by accident through a typo, go figure! After my initial panic..OMIGOD I"VE HIT A PORN BOARD, I started to read and after a month or so registered and I'm still here.

While I've been an Administrator and a Mod at other boards before, none were quite like Lit! One was a sports board and one was a general chat board. An entirely different ball game, no pun intended.

While I've mostly posted on the GB, I have lurked at this forum and gotten a lot of useful info and answers to questions that maybe sometimes I was too afraid to ask myself :).

LukkyKnight..I'll get back to you on the swallow thing, k?

Spenser - Thanks for the kind words.

Okay ...the juicy stuff:

Favorite colour has always been purple, with red/black close runners up.

Favorite item of clothing - let's just say it's not something appropriate for street wear. ;)

Favorite band(s) - I'm a music junkie, so my tastes are all over the place. I love AC/DC/Stones/Supertramp/The Killers, but also just bought the Definitive John Denver collection (hush..I like him) :D

I love late spring, when the weather is getting warmer, but not too hot.

Lit story category would have to be the BDSM section.

:)

Lady G, I wish you the best in your new position here at Lit.

I enjoy the "How To" forum very much, for many reasons too. There is a definite community here, I hope you enjoy it as much as me.

Certainly there are threads here that are of the "how to" nature that are beneficial and others that are anything but, I suppose the phrase "Cream always rises to the top" makes sense here, but it takes just a bit of time for that to occur, we've all got time to allow that to happen.

All the best to you,

Cate

Lady G,

Welcome to How To. In the time I've been here I've been welcomed warmly so I extend the same to you. This is a fine community (I think it's the best in Lit, but I'm biased) and we're glad to have a new member.

By way of introduction, perhaps you could tell us something of your reading preferences - any specific authors you enjoy, for example, or just some titles that have been important to you.

You are most welcome. And just to let you know, I used to sing in clubs back in the early 70s and I play 6 and 12 string guitars.
And I did all of John Denver's music. One night Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers was there with his wife and invited me over to their table. This was on St. Simon's Island at the King and Prince Hotel. He wanted to take me to New York, to get me signed up as the Next John Denver. I thanked him but never did do it. I guess I did not want to be another clone of someone else.
Having been in radio for 30 yrs, most people or groups that come out sounding like someone else usually end up as One Hit Wonders. So I didn't do it. But I enjoyed it while I was doing it.
And I have all of his music... well lol I have over 5000 cds. So I have a lot of music. One of the perks of being in radio.

Here's to you - Lady.... My Sweet Lady.....

As long as it's never too late... Welcome, LG, and you're doing a wonderful job! Thanks for all of your time and effort... we really appreciate it! :rose:

I'll help the lady out. ;) It all boils down to determining the Airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow and working from there. Here is a link to help figure it out. Estimating the Airspeed Velocity of an Unladen Swallow

If and when you get a sensible avatar, I'll consider it. Meantime, I'm watching you.

Now if only everyone's AV was fixed, the memebers of the Canadian Boobie Defense Fund Local 182 would all sleep much easier.... after apropriate moans and sighs of relief that is ;)
