So... during your recent "private" time, either alone or accompanied, was there some sort of accident, that you sort of wish could have been avoided?

This topic came to mind, when I accidentally slapped my package, while energetically polishing my wood.

Best to put packages somewhere safe before starting housework. Are you using Pledge or beeswax?

Honestly, beeswax is not as bad an idea as some might think. Personally, I find it best to use a bit of water to make sure nothing is dry, then work in a bit of Vaseline. Really work it in, to get a nice polish and a smooth, low friction feel.

In this case, I was going for a quick, dry rub. My reckless actions cost me, and I generally believe everyone would be happier if they took the time to properly take care of their "furniture".

Agreed - carefully application is important or else you might end up leaving scratches that would take ages to buff out.

Beeswax would be my preference not just because it's natural, but it leaves a nice smell throughout the house. I'm sure any visitors would enjoy the scent knowing the effort you'd gone to. Is your furniture antique or from Ikea? I love the colours and textures of mahogany but good old stripped pine is lovely too. Who can resist the appeal of a well turned bannister rail in the hand?
