This link is mostly so you can read the comments. Some people really want an automatic porn block on the Internet? These people are so far out in space. Or is it that they just want someone else to do their dirty work for them?

Internet porn: Automatic block rejected

If you can't turn on the parental filters, you should not be allowed to have a computer. Or children. Or both.

Every site I run is labeled with labels meant to interact with the major filtering software, and same with the vast majority of any siteowner not hiding under a rock.

Seriously. Click. Settings. People.

I dunno how this autoblock would differentiate between adults and kids, and i mean... i think that just cause a few parents are not comfortable with their kids seeing porn should mean that nobody can access it.

Oh, let's face it... some people don't want to take the time to be responsible for their own morality and moral standards. It's just easier to blame the interwebs for their child looking at porn than it is to blame themselves for failure to block things, or eliminate curiousity from their child's mind about sex, or... any one of a host of different things. It also allows people to claim that they weren't really looking for porn; it was an accident.

Here's the thing... when our son was reaching the age of healthy sexual curiousity, we lied. We told him we had incredible tracking software on the computer to follow his every move. Not because we wanted to stifle his sexuality but because-- hey, there's some really creepy stuff out there and it's not what you want 11 or 14 yr olds seeing.

Instead, we opted to get him a subscription to Playboy (which, I'm sure he enjoyed for the articles)... and that worked. I mean, *knows this will sound weird* but it's like age-appropriate porn, you know? He's curious, all kids are... why not just give them access to stuff that's soft-core?

At any rate... I just think we're stupid to think that there's any kind of block out there that will prevent a curious teenage boy from finding porn. That's just me, though...
