Star Wars makes sense because it's a "franchise" that's been around for a long time. Same thing with Lord of the Rings, in books and movies.

Movies in general, especially movies from the 40s through the 90s.

Science fiction seems to be something that many authors here are interested in, across the generations. I think there's some sort of connection between sci fi and erotica, in terms of interest. I think it's because it continues to be relevant and interesting and stirs the imagination as much as ever. There's also a kink/fetish thing. The kind of person who's into sci fi is probably more likely to be somebody who's into kink.

When I first came to live with my Family, my Daddy's mother was in a rest home suffering from Alzheimer's. When she met me, Dad explained I was Mum and his foster daughter. She couldn't grasp the concept for some reason.

"She's got a dark complexion. Sure she isn't your daughter by the negro you dated back in the 70s?"

"No, Mom, we didn't have any kids."

"She's right, pretty. Sure she isn't your real child?"

This exchange happened every time we visited her. She never remembered from one time to the next. I was impressed by how patient everyone was with her. Sometimes, she thought my Dad was his father. Then she'd get a little belligerent with Dad and claim he'd been sleeping around on her. We didn't stay long those days; Mum would stay with her and calm her down after Dad and I left. But most of the time, she'd tell me about something Dad did when he was a kid. Usually, she was quite kind to me.

I think how he and Mum treated his mother showed me how I should treat them.

Families span generations, quite nicely.

Oh? Not on a train? Oh, honey. I had a girlfriend 40 years ago who bought us round-trip tickets Atlanta-New Orleans for the express purpose thereof. And then there's my current squeeze. We've been cross-country four or five times, and certainly enjoyed our moments on each!

The Beatles are definitely a great band. I have enjoyed their work in the films Across the Universe and Yesterday, both of which were produced after members of the group passed from this world.

Spectator sports. My hubby and I love going to watch our local non-league football team (soccer if you must). Non-league is much more family orientated than the professional leagues. I really enjoy seeing whole families - grandparents, parents, kids, all in the team's shirts. It's a real family event with kids allowed in free and even dogs admitted, many in their little team coats. Today we'll be watching the men, tomorrow the women.

Giant machinery in general is something that appeals to a lot of men, and probably a few women as well, across multiple generations. Especially in the right aesthetic setting.

Agree about men and trains. There's just something about them. I had an HO model train layout as a kid. It's fun to be on a train. Trains are great in movies. They're also cross-generational, and the style of a train can be indicative of a particular era or place.
