Intelligence?

and to think I was about to pose for thoughts.

do you feel sexual tension? and when do you act on it? or do you act on it?

if you'll look back over the thread, you'll see that it was your buddy that took it up a notch, for taking such great offense to such an innocuous comment. I never got hostile til there was hostility directed at me.

as for whining and self-pitying.... you've all done your share of it, too.... I guess that doesn't count, tho, because it's in the name of "love". at least what counts for love over the internet and the phone. no, wait.... I forgot... out of 100,000 posters on lit or however many it is, I'm the only one that ever expresses anything negative.

I'm not sure what your idea of being able to "debate with the best of them" is, but it seems to me that you mean calling me names. go on with your bad self. you rock, dude. you've really put me in my place. *yawn*

I'm done.... put me on ignore if my posts bother you. that's where you're going.

I can understand your point and see where you are coming from, however all I was really saying was this thread is no place for the conversation that ensued.
I for one am of the opinion that letting anothers point of view wind you up is a useless waste of your energy... so who really cares what they think ?
We are all entitled to voice our opinion, on any subject, hurray for free speech I hear you all cry... so, sometimes we don't like anothers speech, then just ignore it, in r/l it is nothing but air and on lit... mere pixels

So, back to intelligence :)

Not typing all that again !!!

Plain as the nose on your face, lovely one.

The Latin sig is a dead giveaway to anyone interested enough to notice-as an intelligent person would. :)
ahh,,well THANK YOU
my sig changes back and forth from my favourite Latin quotes to quirky song lyrics
I am always happy to talk with anyone that would even notice something like that to begin with

Raises an interesting point...is articulate speech synonymous with intelligence?

Are we seduced by thoughts or the words that convey them?

Can a simple explanation of a profound thought arouse us more than an angelic representation of a dud?

Thoughts (or words) on this concept?

I would argue that being able to express a profound thought with a simple explanation qualifies as being articulate....... which to me, is certainly a sign of intelligence. What do you think?

Good advice... And I will do my best to follow it...

I would say act on it when it's felt

Heh... Ignore is for people who can't handle the debate...

Yes, I have indulged in quite a bit of self-pity...

But I have the nerve to call it such when I've calmed down... You don't seem to do that...

And for the record - do some research... This is a R/L relationship, even if it is very limited in the time that it can actually be face to face at the moment...

So...

Ignore me... I've been ignored by far better, believe me...

I agree that the correlation of the two is common and occurs most of the time, but they are not in a 1:1 ratio. Education can affect eloquence and some brilliant thinkers had small vocabularies due to a lack of formal schooling.

Hence my questions stands-is it the ideas or the words that float your boat?

As in a gesture conveys a thousand words ?

Works sometimes but we dropped out of the trees long ago, both sexes now expect more than just a bunch of flowers or some fruit. I'd take a good conversation over any gesture, be it romantic or expensive

Let someone else tackle the others :D

Good point...... for me, it's the ideas. Poetry, or even good song lyrics, are prime examples. Definitely do not have to be linguistically advanced to be great!

Minored in classics and ancient history in my undergrad-found that the greeks and romans had already pondered a lot of things before me and that the quickest way to get a leg up was to peer over their shoulders.

Now include thinkers from other cultures as well-glad to see you can do the same. :)

simple is divine...

man makes divine a mighty thing.

for is not a graain of sand as worthy of a word as the sky.

damn,,
profound point
a friend of mine (photo journalist) said that it was odd
but all the people around her that were actual journalists and worked in the COMMUNICATIONS field said that they were all HORRID at their own personal attempts at expressing their thoughts
They can write a lovely story
but attempts at saying something to someone was rather rubish,,BUT again,,One persons opinion

Don't think I missed this Druid ;)

Isn't sexual tension sometimes heightened by the judicious use of words ?

This would have to argue that the more intelligent your partner is the more articulate and passionante they are going to be with the words they use

Some one elses turn

simple is DAMN divine
too much mess just clutters up the place
simple wants ---yes
simple needs ---yes
simple minded?---perhaps not so much

but there we go again with ones personal defintion of that phrase

Not exactly what I meant, witchie, but agree with your point.

What I was saying is someone like Francis of Assissi wrote about very complex ideas on the relation of humanity, animals and the earth/environment but used very simple language because of educational challenges and to interact with his desired audience-are his ideas less captivating because he used less lofty language than Shakespeare or Sappho to express himself?

act even if it led to harming innocents?

well,,,now
I am never one to harm an innocent by purpose
never as an intent
but how could acting on sexual tension cause harm to innocents?

Both, you need to be able to articulate your idea to enable the person to appreciate just what it is you wish to share

Strunk and White...

Their basic idea was that you need to simplify as much as you possiby can...

In other words, less is *always* more...
