Intelligence?

I think there should be in some cases, especially if you don't know the person well. From text, to voice, to visual, there is more non-verbal information added that helps you understand and participate in the flow of discussion. Some "delicate" topics can be better discussed in a live format, simply because you have the most information available as to how the person is reacting/responding.

This being said, the better you know someone, the more you can add in the missing non-verbal during a text or vocal discussion.

Just my $0.02. :)

I agree. However, if two people can't hold a convo on the phone ... how likely is it they will be able to in person? I suppose the non-verbal ques in person may facilitate that ... and I'm back to the opening post ... it's got to be about more than sex ...

Erotica AND intelligent conversation? Those guys are hard to find? But I don't give up so easy.... :catroar:

I've had the interesting experience of tending to have trouble having a conversation with someone on the phone, but having a GREAT ability to communicate with that person by e-mail, IM or in person. Maybe I'm not naturally auditory, or maybe I just don't give good phone. ;)

Maybe you just have to know where to look and what to look for.

To refer back to the original post...I have found that good erotica and high intelligence seem to be correlated. Of course, "good" erotica is highly subjective, but it requires a certain creativity, vocabulary, and ability to develop imagery with words. As I mentioned to someone recently, it looks easy but it's damned hard to execute.

In my past incarnation on Lit, I found PLENTY of intelligent people who engaged in some of the most erudite conversations...

Of course, the other great aspect of Lit is that we can be just crude and naughty when appropriate as well. ;)

I think we said it before....make love to my mind and the rest will follow. I was in a relationship for 16 years and never had an orgasm unless it was self induced. I wondered what was wrong with me. My ex-spouse was not a very warm person and there was little or no conversation between other than exchange of information. So there was no stimulation to my mind with him. Now with my bf- WOW! Orgasms happen alot! Why? because he makes love to my mind as well as my body. I used to think foreplay was what you did for a few minutes before you had sex. Now I know that foreplay happens all the time and it makes the sex so much better.

Oh yeah...with my ex-lover, we could only see each other about every two or three weeks...so the "foreplay" would last for DAYS, by phone, IM, e-mail...by the time we got together, she and I were in danger of spontaneous human combustion.

Nothing like a well-placed, suggestive phrase to get the mind racing and the blood pounding...

Precisely, most of the best wordsmiths today (journalists, ghostwriters, biographers, pr folk) end up writing for others because they have nothing burning in their own souls.

For me the ideal combination is words and ideas, but have learned to appreciate both even when less of the other is present.

Good point.... although for me articulate speech is far more than simple wordsmithing.

Well said....the most responsive sexual organ we have is our brain, if that doesn't get stimulated along with, preferrably before the body then sex becomes hmmmmm not so much a chore as a habit, bit like that comfy old robe or pair of shoes we all have.

I steer clear of the on the board cybering. I've tried reading it and I either fall asleep or die laughing. And I read the moony and DB thing and I like them both. A big to do about nothing. That's what the ignore button is for.

With paddle in hand Smart One ? :p

A relationship is about communication, about trust, about being able to make each other laugh, about being able to know when to talk and when to stay quiet.

Being able to grocery shop, putter in the garden, sort out the bills, get the trash to the curb on the right day.

If ya got that, then finding ways to please each other sexually will probably come easily, as the paths of communication will be well established.

YMMV

Some of it rivals a Seifeld stand-up skit ... and best read the day after when all the posts are in place ... reading it as it unfolds can be tedious.

That's about the most UNINTELLIGENT thing I've ever seen you write.

I just wanted to entice you ... :( Now I'm going to go cry in the corner.

Yes, you are right. But there is so little of the other kind and media communications is so prevalent that most aren't aware of the difference.

It is exciting to be in a forum like this where everyone is publisher, writer, critic and people can democratically choose who gets their ears and eyes.

Mine obviously are drawn to intelligent thought.

(and occasionally to a shapely curve or PG game I must admit)

On that topic, has anyone given consideration to the PG's role in building voacbulary, skills in constructing sentences and scenarios and more linguistic dexterity.

No surprise that many of the most articulate writers can be found here.

I think much of LIT is populated with articulate folks. people who understand and use punctuation, decent spelling, and even proper grammer. It is LITerotica after all.

Those who's language skills are severely lacking quickly get drummed from the herd in my experience.

Butt den dare ore hem punsters ... ewe knead two watt shout fur dose pe pole ... day bee plumb knot oil dare. Wheely!!!
