Insider or Outsider?

I feel like such an outsider. I had neither pizza nor the makings last night, but had to make do with a can of ravioli.

With crushed pineapple, of course.

I think of myself as a somewhat-more-than-casual visitor here, neither fully in or nor out. That said, I think that newcomers who seem to be genuine 'seekers' are mostly welcomed pretty nicely. Trolls and wankers get found out and burned pretty quickly, which I honestly don't see as unreasonable.

Rules? I don't think the 'regulars' have all that many. Don't be a wanker, obviously. Don't assume that your way of doing things is or should be the way everyone else does it. Beyond that, I can't think of anything hard & fast around here.

I'm curious where else this reputation is being discussed. And I can think of groups on other forums that that are much more harsh to newcomers.

My only criticism is that the group tends to brush off 'the same old questions' when new folks ask them. I've seen the same thing happen on other, completely unrelated groups. After a while group veterans do get a degree of burnout. I've seen 'newbie FAQ' sections or stickies posted, and those who feel like answering for a while can do so without it becoming a PITA for other regulars.

Well said:kiss:

That's a big pizza. Everybody thinks that their home town produces the best pizza and the best burgers. Only Chicagoans are right about that.

You have a point. Chicago deep dish is delicious. Ooooh! Maybe I need to make a short road trip and get real pizza for dinner.

I just realized that I have turned this thread into a general conversation thread with a slight emphasis on pizza.

I'd much rather move the conversation somewhere more suited and let that thread return to its original focus if anyone wants to do so.

On this note, I have swept out my barn and re-stocked the coffee supply.

If you do, please report back. I'd love to hear about where you went, what you ate, etc.

Not last night. Got busy making a specific color of hair disappear and new color appear. So I am thinking after work I may run over to Gioradano’s for a Chicago deep dish with just a sausage patty on it. Mmmmm. I’m drooling thinking about it.

Giordano's stuffed pizza is truly an experience.

To bring things full circle, I see the website for Uno's has a members' area called the Insiders' Club.

Are we talking the Uno's that Ike Sewell started in about 1946 or Uno's the chain, which only bought the rights to use the name and doesn't have or use the original recipe?

Okay. I'm being confusing. I have only eaten pizza in Chicago once, and that was actually at Pizzeria Due, which is the sister restaurant of the original, I think?

We're going back a few years, so I thought I'd check online to make sure I'd remembered the restaurant name correctly. But it looks like I found the chain's website by mistake.

Who would have thought I could be confused by pizza?

Yes, Due is the sister to Uno. It's usually much easier to get a table there even when the line at Uno is a couple of hours long.

My experience is that many, many people are confused about pizza.

Of course. This is a Lit BDSM thread. Half the people commenting have never actually eaten real pizza, and are only posting after watching Fifty Shades of Cheese...
