Inferiority Complex?

Don't know if this is happening to other authors here, but I've noticed that just as soon as one of my stories goes "hot," someone slips in and votes it a 1. Almost never fails. Do you think they think that makes their stories any better in comparison or that this is an adult thing to do? (Those were rhetorical questions.)

Trolls. They suck. <nods> Just part of the dues you pay for greatness (and for posting on Lit with the current voting system).

I love to encourage newbies and anyone, but really Tx? If you post on a PUBLIC forum and don't expect to get comments like I am sure we all have had? Get some balls, or better yet? Get a CUNT!

I complained to Laurel after a bad bout of trolling, back in the time when I was more concerned, and she removed the 1 votes. My top-rated story stood out a mile after that (it was something like 4.95 with 50 or so votes). It attracted a lot of reads after that, and of course also garnered a huge batch of 1 votes.

Charley, you might as well get used to the fact that some people do care about getting troll votes. It's getting really old for you to come and and gripe at people about it. If it bothers you so much that they are bothered by it, then stop reading and posting in those damned threads.

If I do? Then I am used to the fact that some people are not authors. Its OLD that people are not confidant about there writing. They should be.

They're not griping about legitimate votes. It's troll votes that are being discussed. There are very few stories on this site that actually deserve a 1 vote (granted, they do exist, but they aren't in the majority.) It's very discouraging when you're new to get a slew of those. It keeps you from getting a clear view of what the readers really think of your story.

Besides, I think you've got more chance of an author thinking they're worse than what they are than thinking they're better than what they are (but then maybe that's just my skewed view point.)
