Indiana.....

If you attend to what Christ says at all and you think discriminatory laws are actually about protecting the practice of the Christian religion and not about enabling the prejudices of the particularly dickish people who like to believe they are Christians, you're either a bad reader, a bad person, or some combo of the two.

Take The Parable of the Good Samaritan, for instance. If you know what a Samaritan actually is, you see that it is a radical plea for tolerance.

The message of Christ is not about eternal life or a golden ticket to Heaven--he even bristles at people overly concerned with the afterlife in the New Testament--it's about social justice and universal regard for your fellows.
Here in the US of A, we have the right and freedom to be bad people if we wanna.

This kind of stuff is why I left the GOP.

Dem, Libertarian, Independent, unenrolled, other?

I am curious because there does not seem to be a party for the socially liberal, financially conservative people in the US. (I recognize I am making some sweeping assumptions here).

Uh, have you heard of the Democratic Party? That pretty much sums it up since the Clintons helped the financiers capture its main constituencies and powerbrokers in the 1980s.

Economically, the Dems are still too far left for me. Socially, the Republicans have totally surrendered to the religious right faction. The libertarian wing is toast. Libertarians, here I am to stay.

They are sometimes populist leftist in rhetoric. Ignore that. Pay attention to what they actually do.

Clinton and Obama, in deeds not words, are not that far removed from the Paul Ryans of the world.

Every regime thruout history has been made from the Feudal form of Lincoln Logs.

King at the top, then princes, then the lords and ladies, and priests and soldiers, and serfs on the bottom atop their dung heaps. Below them all are the savages in their jungle and ghetto.

Poor DizzyBooby.. Without VetteBigot here to act as if you're in any way worth engaging as a person you're just being ignored to death.

I have. They are the party that advocates for public policy that produces generations of economic dependents on the federal tit, refuses to address waste fraud and abuse in the government's many procurement systems, gleefully backs a distorted and distended military budget and has no shame in running up additional debt while taxing the shit out of the middle class to a point where it practically does not exist any longer. They are not a party friendly to fiscal conservatives.

Federal welfare programs are administered by the states, you know.

What's with theses gays? Jesus, everybody loves the gays and their money. Why do they give a shit if a couple of businesses discriminate against them? There are more than enough companies that'll be happy to take their money. Live and let live, I always say. The gays have it made, for Christ's sake. They're the third rail. I think people don't like them more for that then the fact that they are gay. Whiney, crybabies. The free market solves this in two minutes. My Governor is banning taxpayer funded non-essential travel to Indiana. Fuck. I'm more pissed that my taxes are paying for "non-essential travel". Stop complaining about every little Goddamn thing.

Lots of pass through money coming from the Feds with lots of strings, but yes you are absolutely right. The Dems are just the lesser of two evils and with the GOP today that gives the Dems a lot of room for evil.

If the Dems would just quit it with the give-aways and take the money and channel it into small business starts, or economic development zones, or Pell grants (with an emphasis on STEM and not liberal arts), or some new-age version of the WPA it would be such a welcome and refreshing public policy change that they'd sweep the next elections.

As long as they stick with TANF and SNAP and EITC and that bullshit all I can do is hold my nose and vote.

" if you want the government to intervene domestically you’re a liberal, if you want the government to intervene abroad you’re a conservative, if you want the government to intervene both domestically and abroad you’re a moderate, and if you don’t want the government to intervene either domestically or abroad you’re an extremist.)" - Joe Sobran

There's the rub. The Republicans will never allow them to do sensible things.

I see miles has found a new top bigot to cheer on.

I guess it's good for DizzyBooby to have someone pretend as if he's at all worth engaging as if he's an actual human being.
