Here in the US of A, we have the right and freedom to be bad people if we wanna.If you attend to what Christ says at all and you think discriminatory laws are actually about protecting the practice of the Christian religion and not about enabling the prejudices of the particularly dickish people who like to believe they are Christians, you're either a bad reader, a bad person, or some combo of the two.
Take The Parable of the Good Samaritan, for instance. If you know what a Samaritan actually is, you see that it is a radical plea for tolerance.
The message of Christ is not about eternal life or a golden ticket to Heaven--he even bristles at people overly concerned with the afterlife in the New Testament--it's about social justice and universal regard for your fellows.
