I really hope someone can help.....
I'm trying to edit my index but, keep getting a error message saying the message is too short??
My index already has loads of stuff in there, so that doesn't make sense!
I've tried logging out, but that doesn't work.

Anyone any ideas on what is wrong? :)

I think when editing or quoting, you have to add something or hit cancel. I'm not sure what the character limit is. Add a half dozen "......." using the color white. Next time you edit, overwrite them with your next index.

Hmmm. Maybe I'll go peek at your pic thread and see what all the pervs wrote to you.

Make sure you are hitting the EDIT button and not the QUOTE button. You'll get a message too short error if the only thing in your post is a quote; you shouldn't get it at all if you're editing -- unless you're deleting everything down below five characers in length.

I'm definitely editing.....done it loads to make sure! I'm not deleting anything.

HELP!!

It might be an erroneous error message that should be something like the "too many images/smilies" error messages -- you do have a lot of links already.

Whatever the cause, the software isn't seeing any text when you hit the "save changes" buutton or at least riggering that error code.

Do you have the same problem if you try to edit any other post in that thread?

No, I've edited other posts & they've been fine.

WHen Ive gotten the message..

it turns out I hit the quote button not the edit button. It looks just like you are editing, except for th "[" bracket and html code at the beginning and end of the post.

Definitely hitting edit.....just tried it again....

The following errors occurred when this message was submitted:
Please complete both the subject and message fields. Press the back button, correct the problem and try again.
The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 5 characters.

I'm getting really pissed off with it now!! 2 weeks I've been trying to sort it.....Arrgghh

I just tried quoting your index post and it does the same thing with or without the quote tags. It's definitely something in the content that is erasing everything from the all of the input fields when you try to save changes or preview.

I don't have time to isolate the guilty content, but it seems to me that, with 400+ posts on that thread, it might be a good idea to start a new one (with a referece link bck to the existing thread for new fans to follow.)

I bow to your talents...
can you help me do an index?
I would be most appreciative.

All you have to do is edit the first post of the thread and paste the URLs of the attachments into that first post -- or first two posts if they're both yours.

To copy the URLs on a PC, right click on the link and select "Copy Shorcut" from the context menu, then hit CTRL-V back on the edit-post page.

It is easier if you have the edit-post page open in one window and the picture thread in another window and the windows tiled so you can see both at once.

You can get fancier than that by pasting the URLS through the "Insert Hyperlink" diallogue and naming each link, but the basic porcess is abut the same.
