The point I am making is that in real life things happen which no author would dare to put in a story, because they would not be believed. Just one example is Agatha Christie's Hercules Poirot. He is dining with a friend one evening and chances to see an old man also dining in the restaurant. The waitress comments that the old man has broken the habit of a lifetime by ordering a meal totally out of character for him. The very next day the man is found dead, apparently accidental death. Because of the changed habits Poirot suspects murder, and eventually proves it. My best beloved's comment was "Oh, very convenient," and she demonstrated that coincidence is mistrusted in fiction, yet happens more often than we care to admit in real life.
