Just curious about all y'all's feeling about this topic. I had a conversation with a writing friend of mine the other day and the topic of incest porn and the reasons for it's ever present, and ever growing popularity. I am of the opinion that in both written and visual erotica, incest / family porn is just a shortcut the creator uses to tell the audience that there's already a relationship between the parties. Be it love, friendship, or just a solid connection. By putting them in a family setting the author can significantly reduce the relationship building, bonding time and get straight to the narrative. It also adds a high level of danger to the stories without having to outline how it's dangerous, etc...Lastly, I believe that if you take ten thousand incest porn enthusiasts and ask them which family member they want to bang, all but a very few would say "not a single one, they are all gross."

What are your thoughts?

I am of the opinion that incest is the gateway to child abuse - either intentional or through the ignorance of family with fucked up moral values they're determined to pass on to the next generation like it was okay. Go fuck yourself... that's incest huh?

As far as the Incest/Taboo stories on this site, I can't say because I don't read them. However, there certainly are a lot of stepsister/stepbrother and stepparent/stepchild stories on the free video sites, and I think your points make sense for them. The situation sets up an immediate intimacy---the characters already live in the same house, they have to interact and share the facilities, etc. So the video can get right to a bit of spicy drama without the need for too much additional backstory. Also, the fact that they have a "step" relationship diffuses the moral taboo somewhat: it's still a no-no for them to have sex, but not as bad as real incest.

Of course, there are other familiar instant story lines as well---the baby sitter, the new hire, the next door neighbor, and so on. And not all porn videos these days even feel the need to tell any kind of story at all.

yes, I agree. Way back when porn was all story driven, although the stories were really poorly done, they were still there. Now it's mostly just 3 minute clips - body parts really.

I don't "get" incest - it turns me off immediately and uncontrollably. But so do many fetishes. Clearly, most people who write and consume incest porn are turned on by the taboo. Equally, a small minority actually have incestuous feelings that they're working out in fantasy form - and a much smaller minority act them out (if everyone's a consenting adult, I'm not judging). I doubt there's any objective way of telling from the story where the writer or the readers fall on that spectrum, and, just as with violent video games and music video imagery, since there's no causal link between reading and doing everyone should just carry on enjoying themselves.

I think, in general, the curiosity extends from people's desire to "understand" that taboo. Unfortunately, there is not a single venue that will or CAN allow an honest discussion. I've tried it, on many forums and other sites.

There are never people who will, willingly, identify (publicly) as "victims," while the perpetrators are more than happy to glorify their crimes. That is why so many sites end up shutting down. I find that many who will affirm they are victims choose to tell their tales, salaciously, because that is the only way to tell them. Also, for many, the emotions are complicated. Victims, who are truly damaged won't tell their stories, on public sites, because people are (generally) more interested in the physical aspects.

On the other hand, there are those who are not, in any way, victims. Much of their lives are spent in secrecy. They, often want to tell their stories, but don't. . . for obvious reasons.

As an incest author of sorts, I don't lust after my family members. I find the idea that a mother could be in a position to fall in love with a son or whatever a turn-on. but it is always someone other than my own family that is involved, actually, sex with my own family members would be just gross, to say the least. I don't think that I have ever had sexual thoughts about my own children so the premise that it leads to child abuse is false in my case anyway, I can not talk for other authors.

I was even asked to write a story based on a person's real-life account of childhood abuse and couldn't even bring myself to go there and turned down the offer.
