For the first time in my life, we had Mcdonalds for Christmas dinner last night. I'm trying NOT to blame them for this dream.

Two families meet at a convention. One, led by a husband whose wife has died. The other is led by a wife whose husband has died. There are a son and daughter in each family. Naturally, they are all falling in love. It seems a great story to write.

The thing is, the convention is for companies that produce nuclear bombs. The two companies the families represent are researching adding cinnamon to their bombs, so the bombed areas smell better afterward. The word "Ameliorate" echoed throughout the dream.

Ameliorate: "make (something bad or unsatisfactory) better."

Still shaking my head :D

So, what's your weirdest dream?

"Mr. President, we have good news and we have bad news,."

"What's the bad news?"

"It appears that Megalopolis was destroyed in a nuclear attack, millions are dead."

"Oh my God! How could you possibly have good news for me after that?"

"The ruins smell like hot apple pie."

-- Happy Boxing Day

I was working at a McDonalds... :D

Many years ago I dreamed that I was riding a bicycle along a willow-lined path beside a river. Aside from the fact that the bicycle’s saddle was definitely an English hunting saddle, all well and good. But then the path entered a tunnel. And, funnily enough, there was a strong smell of sugar and cinnamon. Perhaps someone was making doughnuts?

At the end of the tunnel, I could see a pinkish light. And, as I got closer to the light, it turned into a pinkish face – and not a particularly friendly pinkish face. So I punched it. Hard. And, when I woke up, the pink-faced paramedic leaning over me was trying to stop the blood flowing from his nose.

I gather that it is not unusual for some epileptics to have vivid dreams. :D

Edit for additional information: When someone is having an epileptic episode, it's probably best to leave them alone.

I wouldn't call them real weird dreams, but I published two stories last spring that were both based on dreams. In both cases, I have few memories of the original dream because the stories kinda replaced the memories.

In one dream I was sitting in some comfortable, mostly darkened place when a young woman sat down near me. She started telling me personal details about herself for no particular reason. I removed most of the dream-like aspects when I turned the story into "Her Dream House." It was challenging to write.

The second dream was a little more outlandish. It was set in high school, and the normal events of the day were punctuated with oddities surrounding one girl, especially PA announcements that most people couldn't hear. I kept some of the dream-like aspects and turned it into "Hurricane Twyla." Some readers seemed to take issue with the quirkiness, but all-in-all its tongue-in-cheek humor was pretty well-accepted.

This needs to be a Paul Verhoeven movie.

Most of my dreams seem to be a view in to a single alternate reality of my life. Except for here and there until that version of me killed himself. I figure he succeeded since I have not had those dreams since.

Note to 2021 self: Make sure you corner the futures market for cinnamon.:D
