No More Clichés, Redux.
This a poem for those men who do not look like Brad Pitt,
Still with hairy pits and chests, pregnant bellies,
Who work various hellish jobs just to feed their kids
Men who like a beer but aren’t drunks,
Who love their wives, spend time helping out
Then watch the sport; who have taught their sons well
Led by example, on how to be a man worth repeating
Men who would never beat anything but defeat
These are the men worthy of fêtes, of adoration.

This poem was written in response the Octavio Paz poem, No More Clichés. As I get older, I find the homely but honourable and decent guys much more attractive by far than the good looking individuals. I felt these unsung heros deserved lauding.

I enjoyed this. A nice little pat on the back that I'm sure Chris Rock would be proud of.

Nice little counterpoint to Paz poem.
Everyday men and women, hidden heros.
Thanks.

It seems to me that a lot get says about the men who are arseholes and don't meet their responsibilities but not much is said about those men who show and do what's required and more (my husband is one of these guys). I thought they deserve applause.
