Og takes (another) break
I'm off chasing the wife's ancestors again from Monday 8th to Sunday 14th October.
So far the hunt has taken us to Barry, South Wales and Bognor Regis, West Sussex. Now it's Nottingham's turn.
Apart from poring over records in the archives we do spend days touring the local area for interesting places we wouldn't normally visit. For the Barry trips the highlights were Nash Point and the simple Norman church at Marcross. For the Bognor Regis week we had expertly guided tours of a Portsmouth Park and Old Portsmouth and days in places we've always wanted to see but never got to: Fishbourne Roman Palace and the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum. Again we managed to have expert-led tours with knowledgeable enthusiasts who could make apparently uninteresting objects or structures intelligible.
Any suggestions for sights to see, places to visit, in and around Nottingham? Or places/suburbs to avoid?
I'm around until about 10am BST Monday.
Og
PS. After that I'm off on my own for a weekend conference in Birmingham, leaving Friday 19th returning Sunday 21st. I know all the low dives in Brum so suggestions aren't needed for that weekend.
