Who or what are you remembering this Memorial Day and why?

Rather than open closets i prefer to remain locked (at best, closed) i offer some of the lighter, and happier memories. i've seen other lists, but these will do for now. For those that have ever heard the phrase "You damn Skippy," from whence it came.

The 213 Things Skippy is No Longer Allowed to Do in the U.S. Army​

Once upon a time, there was a SPC Schwarz stationed with the Army in the Balkans. SPC Schwarz was either very clever or very bored; but probably both, since he managed to attempt or be warned about 213 things he wasn't allowed to do. He collected those things into a hillarious list and posted them to the web. The site hadn't been updated in a couple of years and has since gone away; but the list is classic, so without further ado:

For some reason, my past relationships all sprang up on me *early* this morning, that has nothing to do with memorial day though.

Battle scars are battle scars stud.

I will be remembering my late grandfather who, among other things, served as a paratrooper in World War II.

And my thanks to him.

... I'm just concerned that some of those sounded like something I might try...

i'd like to see that. Something to keep in mind, however. A superior's endurance to stand with arms crossed and jump boot toes gleaming in your eyes while you repeatedly execute the pushup from the front leaning rest position will usually outlast yours.

Actually, funny that should be included as the site has been reinstituted by Skippy's fiance with new clarifications to clear up what had become almost urban legend about him. I am remembering my father who was a WWII vet. He served on several ships as an electricians mate. He was a self taught civil engineer., a pilot and wrote many technical manuals in different fields. He worked in flight towers, served in Nam as a civilian. His idea of a good read was any technical manual in any field. ie engines, statistial engineering. etc. Very intelligent man. Also taught at the FAA a cademy in Oklahoma. Unfortunately his brains got passed down to my brother.LOL
