OK, so it's probably just a hormonal imbalance, but every once in a while I have an evening where I'm positively in love with the whole world.

Last night was a night like that. I went with my sister to see Willy Wonka (loved it and won't listen to anyone who says it was anything short of sick and twisted genius!) and then I went down to her cafe to hang with her business partner. I helped him work the door for a while and then I went in to the woman at the bar for a while.

It was a busy night, lots of people in the crowd and lots of drinks being served. I bussed tables, mopped up spills, made change, restocked the cooler. Total grunt work. And it all made me so happy.

The music was great - positive hard-rocking folk music (I want them booked for Halloween). And each and every member of their band was just as charming and good looking as the others. They loved their music and I loved them for it.

Every person I saw made my heart swell more and I took in all sorts of things, like mannerisms, relationships, sobriety status, etc. It was such fun.

When the band was done, my sister's partner made me a sandwich that tasted like it could have only been served on manna from heaven. My bottle of water was cool and delicious. The chips were a delicacy.

Driving home, I cranked up a song that I love and sang - shouted the lyrics as loud as I could. It had been a perfect evening. Absolutely perfect.

And I was in love with the world.

Does this happen to anyone else? Or should I just go ahead and get my estrogen levels checked?

Sounds lovely. I could use a night like that. Can't say as I've felt anything even approaching it in quite some time. *sigh*

Good on ya, logo!

Actually, I had quite a similar effect going for me last night as well.

My friends decided to re-celebrate my birthday and get me drunk. We started out drinking at my buddy Jay's house, Beer, Rye, Strawberry daqs.. and of course some pizza to chow down on.

From there we went to my regular bar to shoot some pool, stayed there for a bit and then went to a bar I've never been too. Played some drunks at pool, won some, lost some (I was slightly intoxicated myself, but I should've done better than what I did).

Now, the new part, for me at least is that I was smiling the entire time, right when I first got to Jay's house until I got home, in fact on the way home I was laughing my ass off, at anything and everything. I've not laughed so much, or so hard in over a year, at least.

Nothing could've brought me down last night, I was in love with the world.

That's weird, I posted a reply, but it didn't show up.

Your evening sounds fabulous. I'm glad you had such a great time.

Evenings at the cafe are often wonderful, and to be honest this "in love with the world" feeling happens to me about a third of the time I spend an evening there.

But last night was just a perfect crystaline moment in time.

I do get them occasionally, had one on Friday.......one of those days when you are so bursting with joy that you have to let out a WHOOP........which is exactly what I did. I was driving, talking on the phone, window down, beautiful evening, and the whoop came out as YEEEEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

:D

The someone else who heard it on my phone, also enjoyed it. It made her laugh, which only added to the perfection of the day and evening. The day started with her voice, and finished with it. Perfect.

Sounds lovely, Mat.
Thanks for sharing!

Oh, I've had a couple of those recently. There is just nothing so sweet in the world as your mood; you're bouncing, flirting outrageously with all and sundry, smiling at strangers, buying little treats for yourself and singing to your hapyp song at the top of your voice.

In fact, I'm going to go and get my happy song right now.

The world is beautifully idiosyncratic :D.

On the one hand I'm tempted to whine and moan about how badly I need a night like that....

but I am going to resist. Just because my days have not been overwhelmingly wonderful lately does not mean they never will be again.

I'm really glad you had a good night Logo love. You definitely deserve to....

my next turn is right around the corner...I just know it is....

you know elliott smith has a lyric that goes like that.

i'm in love with the world, through the eyes of a girl
who's still around, the morning after...

what terrible irony.
