I just had a story posted this morning. I used the recent activity link to check on it. I'm getting one-bombed and left scathing comments about turning down the volume. I pulled it up to check out what the bitching was about and half of my text is all CAPS. This was the first time I uploaded a piece as a .rtc because I used italics.

My question is, how do I get rid of it? Should I contact Laurel or Manu and get it corrected or just resubmit an edited version and say "Screw the italics."

I think I read your story, it was the entire 2nd page wasn't it?
I think you should contact someone first before re-submitting it, they might not allow that.

PM Laurel, tell her what happened. I assume you don't want to keep the scores that went with this effort? Unless you think the title is the greatest thing you've ever come up with, I'd re-submit the story under a new title and delete the earlier story. In the meantime, shut off voting and comments on the earlier story. Explain all of this to Laurel.

Good luck.

It was about baseball and sex. Everything was fine and then BOOM. All the words were capped out. I did send PMs out and hope someone gets back to me. I guess this is karma fucking with me for moaning about nobody leaving comments.

PM Laurel with a link to the story, it may be reparable without resubmitting.

Plain text with manual Italics tags (<i></i>) placed where you want them is the surest way to get the formatting you want.

Rich Text Format can cause problems with the automatic conversion scripts if you don't have a "clean" file -- RTF files often contain a record of every change made since the first word of the story was typed and in a story that has been hevily revised and/or edited, the RTF mark-up commands can overwhelm the text of the story.

Good looking out, Harold. Wish I never heard of RTF. I also stopped the one bombs and comments, for now.
